Juice

It's a worthy and entertaining watch!!! There are beds or walls opening up, people speaking on mobile phones suddenly appear next to each other and stepping into a black and white movie. There is a lot of comedy to enjoy, visually as well as verbally, so much tongue in cheek. Russel Tovey plays the boyfriend every gay man wants to have, Jamma actually has him but doesn't seem to fully appreciate him.

Not only tackles the show gay relationships, it also deals with interracial challenges, stereotypical prejudices and inevitable family tension.

Mawaan Rizwan is funny, creative and not afraid to go full slapstick, his haircut anyone? Crazy coloured jogging style outfits? This is a fun show, it won't be for everyone, but having only just started I think he has a great future ahead of him.

Not a single joke lands. The acting is either ridiculous and over the top or badly delivered and uninterested. The writing is clunky as hell, and this might be the most narsacistic main character in anything for a while. Everything about it is subpar, the surreal bits are very uninspired and add nothing. I think it's great to see more gay characters on TV, but surely of all the gay artists out there the pool of talent is much greater than this shallow nonsense.

The way he re-uses old British comedy troupes shows little to know understanding of what made those bits good in the first place, and his attempts to do 'Fleabag' style emotion completely miss the mark.

Avoid like the plague. Step up your commissioning game, BBC!

There's plenty of talent to admire from the creator and his cast. It makes your heart full and gifts you with belly laughs. A refreshing point of view, which challenges the heteronormative audience whilst offering a hug to the queer community, with lessons to learn for all white viewers. The show covers a range of important matters that often create tension and discomfort. A surreal and playful delivery that provides profound moments when covering prejudice's with sexuality, race & culture. Juice manages to display excellent nuance, diving into both the serious and silly nature of the human condition. Great characters in a stellar series.

Either the other 3 reviewers who gave it 8 or 10 stars watched a different show or they're family members of the show's 'star'. This 'I'm so wacky and crazy' kind of comedy rarely works and this is an excellent example of it. It's cringey, none of the jokes land and the Monty Python / Morecambe and Wise rip-offs entirely miss the point of what made the sketches funny in the first place. Whoever signed off on this new their head examining... and Russell Tovey, what on earth were you thinking! ?

Watch this only if you want a masterclass on how to suck any laughter out of poorly replicated comedy classics.

Finally, we have a new British sitcom worth talking about. Juice on BBC3 provided contemporary romantic humour, laugh-out-loud visual gags and hilarious one-liners from the off. The cast, led by ts brothers Mawaan and Nabhaan Rizwan, and supported by their real mum and talented Russell Tovey, are outstanding. Juice has the potential to be a true comedy classic, and I can't wait to see the characters' relationships develop.

It does an amazing job of somehow juggling big clowney physical comedy with poignant emotional arcs and a story that is gripping and breaks stereotypes. It's truly different and original and that's why some people won't get it - but those are exactly the types of shows that become cult classics.
