Installation artist Miranda Fall follows, photographs and documents the lives of strangers to create her art. One night her secret lover witnesses a violent act from Mirandas apartment window. To protect his identity, Miranda poses as the primary witness, making statements to the police about a crime she did not see. She begins to create a new piece of work, based on these circumstances. This simultaneously selfish and selfless act sends Miranda into a maze of doubt and fear, blurring the lines between artist and subject.

Writer-director Camille Thomans debut feature immerses viewers in a taut psychological thriller, with sumptuous imagery and sonic clues that steadily seep into the subconscious mind. Lines of morality blur and nothing is as it seems in this eerily fascinating exploration of identity, voyeurism and loss of self.

Pretentious Muck

I've nothing against any film that holds back on being too literal as to plot and conclusions but that has to be backed up by something substantial in other areas. This movie fails utterly in the latter respect. It's pointless pretentious muck that is a total waste of time. Boring and turgid.

Worst movie I've watched in a long time. The lead actress had the same expression on her face for 2 hours. Save your time for a better movie.

Interesting and Well Acted

I was surprised to see the low rating on IMDb for Never Here. If you like your mysteries tied up with a neat bow, this movie may leave you dissatisfied. However, the acting, cinematography and music were all excellent. And I was happy to see that Sam Shepard's final role was one with some meat to it. Mireille Enos' artist is totally believable and her gradual mental deterioration is impressive. For me, the twists and turns in the plot were not what riveted me. It was the looming dread that permeated the movie that grabbed me and left me pondering it for quite a while afterward.
