I love this one, it's special, because it's the one and only roast Patrice O'Neal attended before he died.
If you don't know, he's one of the greatest comedians who ever lived, and the fact that he said 'yes' to this roast, while saying 'no' to previous ones should tell you this -- Charlie is an inspiration.
I hope he's doing well these days, because he was a leged back then -- he made a ton of money, lived like crazy, then 'told his boss to f-ck off' like a champ.
Aside from Amy Shumer - the worst Roast atendee ever, and Jeff Ross who's a major beta, always sucking up to her, this is probably the best roast ever.
With the best cast, best roastee, and just... Best everything.

Overall - just 'good enough'. Sheen provides a wealth of material and they skewer him well.
First of all - the dais is pretty disappointing. For a guaranteed ratings winner (it was CC's highest rated roast) a lot of the old, big names like Lisa Lampanelli, Gilbert Gottfried, Nick DiPaolo and others weren't there. And Jon Lovitz and Steve O are not worthy replacements. Not to mention no people from Charlie's world. I guess that says something about the guy right? Or maybe the producers are just getting lazy.
Speaking of which, they have to stop getting Seth MacFarlane to MC these things. He's gotten boring and doesn't bring anything special to the shows.
WINNING!!!: Jeff Ross owned the night - he's been roasting Charlie on their comedy tour and brings out the A material. Amy Schumer is also nice and nasty.
MIDDLE GROUND: Anthony Jeselnik has some good one-liners but his delivery is kinda annoying. I believe Patrice O'Neal when he said he had to throw out some of his prepared material. He seemed to be winging it a bit, but I like how he tried to describe the roasters (Anthony as a Medieval Restaurant waiter lol). William Shatner did well. Jon Lovitz...
TIGER DUD: Kate Walsh was pretty bland, Steve O was terrible, Mike Tyson was all over the place. Get rid of MacFarlane.
Overally it was funny and enjoyable - you have to be pretty lame to screw up a Charlie Sheen roast, but a bit more effort next time Comedy Central.

Alongside with the Roast of Donald Trump, Bob Saget, Pamela Anderson, Hugh Hefner and William Shatner (the others are also great, but not extraordinary, my opinion) - this is a gem of a roast, let's say a diamond; it's what I dreamed of in months of anticipation. The roasters on the dais killed it, Charlie Sheen was a very good sport and the crowd was awesome, the set was very nice... all in one, A PERFECT ROAST! And this comes from a person that saw all the Comedy Central roasts, 4-5 times each :) Watch it, it's a must; treat yourself with one+ hour of laugh out loud, guaranteed! And to sum up the 10 lines of mandatory text, I hope Charlie will do a great job in Anger Management; can't wait to see it in 2012 and later on. All the best!
I could have rated more to get Amy out of there, it's just that she's not worthy of a "star".
Now 9 roasts deep into the 11 that Amazon has available for streaming, I can see a unique character developing for each one. It might seem obvious at first glance, but I promise that it isn't. Yes, they recycle a lot of jokes even though they may tailor them to specific people, but I'm not really referring to those. What I mean is how the production is tailored to each roast honoree. Although it is mostly confined to the introduction, you can see how the animations are unique in their own way, and the choice of song when the man/woman of honor enters. Maybe I'm putting a little too much thought into a comedy special, but at least Comedy Central did. The earlier ones were kind of anonymous in that kind of detail (or maybe I just didn't notice it until now), but it is clear that CC is getting into kind of a groove. As for the jokes, I continue to hear a lot of recycled material, particularly before each roaster gets to the main person. They're still funny, but the enthusiasm of my laughter does decline with each repetition. Thankfully, Charlie Sheen has had significant enough of a career and personal failings with which to generate comedic material. My personal favorites were Anthony Jeselnik, Amy Schumer, and Patrice O'Neal. Mike Tyson was tolerable at best, and way too many barbs were directed at him, distracting from the main event. It also didn't help that he couldn't keep his mouth shut when it wasn't his turn. Anyway, I digress. I found the level of humor acceptable, and Charlie Sheen himself equally adept at dishing it as taking it. Overall, in the upper echelon of these Comedy Central roasts.

- WissenswertesJust before a commercial break, Patrice O'Neal jokingly said, "This is gonna be my last show, man." Sadly, it was. Patrice died from complications from a stroke just two months later.

Jon Lovitz - Roaster: How much blow can Charlie Sheen do? Enough to kill two and a half men!
