I need to start off by saying I'm a fan of Pete Davidson, not a huge fan but still a fan, so I'm definitely the target audience for this show. FYI, you don't have to be a Pete Davidson fan to enjoy the show. I ended up liking Bupkis even more than I thought I would. I was entertained throughout every episode. The worst episode is the first so don't give up after one episode, it gets better. Bupkis is a fictionalized story on Pete Davidson's life. It's kind of how like Curb Your Enthusiasm is loosely based on Larry David. There are so many big names stars in this including Joe Pesci as his grandfather and Edie Falco as his mother. It also has so many great guest appearances by Charlie Day, Sebastian Stan, Jon Stewart, Bobby Cannavale, Ray Ramano, Steve Buscemi, Paul Walter Hauser, Simon Rex, Method Man, Jadakiss, Machine Gun Kelly, Brad Garrett, Al Gore, John Mulaney, and many more. Give this a chance because I think it'll hook you and you're going to want to binge it as fast as you can.
This series is actually quite good. Very well-written and acted, great cast, and finds a way to turn dark subject matter, especially relating to his father's death on 9/11 and his drug use, into something very watchable and entertaining.
Some of the middle episodes were a bit uneven, but the first two and last two were excellent. I am a middle-aged guy and can't say I've lived a life like Pete's, but I have seen enough of his work to find him very relatable. He's an excellent writer, and by the caliber of the actors willing to do cameos on this show, they think so, as well.
I'd like to see more of Bupkis.

I'm not a big fan of his, I don't think his stand up is good and I don't think he's a good actor. He was great in the CC Roasts though. However this show is great, he's great in it, the supporting cast is great, the dialogue is great, im just very pleasantly surprised. I'm particularly impressed with the supporting cast, it's amazing. So many great actors playing family members who themselves can steal an entire episode. I've gotten emotional a few times already and laughed out loud which is the ultimate range I'm looking for in a great show. This is a play on Pete's life so as long as he doesn't do anything too stupid to get cancelled, there will be plenty of material to be had as well. I look forward to it.
I think this show is significantly underrated. It may be an age thing. (I'm older than Pete by a lot).
I do enjoy Pete, but you will love this show if, in your lifetime, Joe Pesci made you laugh out loud 10 times or more, you thought Marissa Tomei was super cool in My Cousin Vinny, you understand the spiritual meaning behind "him, with those ducks", you may never have watched "Everyone Loves Raymond" and you know you never want to have a beer with Ray Romano because he's probably the boring adult in the room, but you love how he dominates every scene he's in across many shows, you secretly suspect Jon Stewart actually is running America behind the scenes...

Pete Davidson is playing Pete Davidson... sort of. He's living back home on Staten Island with his mother Amy (Edie Falco). Joe Larocca (Joe Pesci) is his grandpa. He's tired of being the butt of everybody's jokes. In the pilot, he comes on his mother and helps his Uncle Roy (Brad Garrett) come inside a hooker.
It's not the first time that a celebrity is using his real life as fodder for comedic material. Pete Davidson is well suited for this with all his unstable tabloid stories. He dabbles a little with the surreal. It has good potential. It could be a standout if he gets even better. It could be his Atlanta. Of course, he quits after one season. He claims that this part of his life is done. I hope that doing some of his best work isn't the "life" that is over.
