I was excited when I heard there would be a spinoff of the brilliant series Harley Quinn, and utterly perplexed that it was the annoying minor character Kite Man. I mean, really?
The first episode was cute but unexceptional, as it sets up the basics - Kite Man and his girlfriend, Golden Glider, who has a freaky power she can't control, are stealing for sustenance when they find their favorite bar imperiled and it becomes a whole thing. It was reasonably funny and intriguing so I kept watching.
And I got more and more into it. Like Harley Quinn, Kite Man mixes a genuinely sweet love story with nutty characters and disturbingly graphic violence. And in spite of being only mildy interested at first, I soon reached the tipping point where I just binge-watched the whole thing.
While Kite Man still seems like an odd series star, he is backed by a wonderful ensemble that includes a very funny Bane (who would seem to have been a better option for a spin-off star) and Darkseid with his very silly greek chorus.
The story was good, but like Harley Quinn it's really the likabililty of its off-kilter villains that makes it so engaging. Here's hoping for a season 2.

Although Kite Man: Hell Yeah was an unexpected spin-off to Harley Quinn, seeing Gotham City in a whole new way in this modern, ultra-violent universe is a lot of fun. Kite Man is a moron and Golden Glider is an unexpected gem. DC really has something with this new version of Batman. It's a show thats existence is completely unnecessary but it's humor is just as random and morbid and hilarious as its mother show. I'm looking forward to seeing how this show plays out. The show has so much potential with how much "lore" there is to pull from, without needing to rely on the Bat-family at all. Gotham City is a mad place and the chance to see it used as a playground in a spinoff series is nothing short of a treat.
I like the show it's classic and simple, meeting new age, but done right. Kiteman, Golden glider, bane and Noonansn are funny and the show has refreshing new situations instead of same old regurgitated tv. Just finished episode 6 and can't wait for more! Its use of villains feels like the characters are more comedic. When I found the show I binge watched it while drinking with my friends, it was a good time! Funny I only found the show because I saw a popular clip on youtube of beast mode bullying people at the bar and giving a girl a wedgie!😂Hope it happens again love the show! Like where the show headed and don't think i'll be disappointed. Also I recognize the voice actors they're pretty funny!
Just an update effortlessly funny towards the end. This could be one of the shows I put on often now.

How does DC create a show about a character without any real superpowers? Well the first episode is clear indication that this show has everything it takes to take it to another season and thats coming from episode 1. Funny, fast and very engaging, DC's least famous characters come to the foreffront of this show with its raunchy humour and.amateur gimmickry. Kiteman's girlfriend Golden Glider has a more powerful character and is madly in love with this goof ball. The show ends with a bat signal probably signalling him becoming a foe of Batman and I also hope there is an arc with Poison Ivy, with whom he has had a past, who has a small part in the first episode.
When I first saw they had made this series, I was like - nobody wants this! I watched the first episode and was bored and left it. A couple of months go by and I was bored so I picked it up from Episode 2, which was hilarious and ridiculous to I went back to episode 1. A good six hours later I'm like hellz yeah! This was a complete surprise! I loved it. They expanded on a fringe character that I had never heard of before the Harley Quinn series and totally rode the wave with him in such an unexpected way. The backdrop of the story is just as ridiculous as the Harley Quinn series is, but they really up the humor leveraging on Kite Man's dimwittedness. I imagine a purist watching this and saying the Kite Man is meant to be a supervillain not an antihero - well those people can find something else to watch. I laughed so hard, I was invested in most of the characters. I cant wait for a Season2.

- WissenswertesDespite being canonically tied to HBO Max's "Harley Quinn", the role of Lex Luthor was recast to the now late Lance Reddick. He took over the role from Giancarlo Esposito (who voiced the character in the aforementioned "Harley Quinn") due to scheduling conflicts.
