This movie is very funny and lets you bond with almost every character. It has one of the funniest scenes I have ever seen (dream sequence). Esther is a very capable lead. Bobby as a stable, compassionate fatherly figure is genius parody of his professional persona. The movie focuses on the comedy and loosely uses the story as a palette. Get you girl who kisses and dances like Esther, plays like Bhad, and shares your bad food habits like Miranda. Shout out to the squad, they must be loyal beyond belief. Go with a full audience and definitely grab snacks at the theater. Then start watching Trash Tuesday if you aren't already.
Good satire on the mental state of young Americans. And yes I'm talking about late Gen Y and early Gen Z (specifically you, lol).
This movie while also funny and entertaining with great acting. Is a great way to decompress and see that there are other people than you who think that the InstaTweetTickTock generation is socially awkward, self-absorbed, very frightened of everything, and have very little attention to anything other than the apps on their phones.
The satire in this movie is great, and very interesting, because our main protagonist has almost zero awareness that she is the subject of the satire...and I can see how some audience might not find it funny. Drugstore June heavily relies on irony and sarcasm to get it's comedic point across, and not much else.
I think my favorite shtick, is that June (protagonist) behaves often very cringy, but yet thinks everyone around her is "cringe."
Enjoy!

There is definitely some parody in the first half or so of the movie, June's character especially. It's definitely meant for people of the current TikTok media influencer generation. The only obvious insider thing is Miranda Cosgrove using her favorite curse word a couple times. For me, it's always fun to see Miranda in something, Beverly D'Angelo is great as always, the rest of the cast does well. Laughed out loud often. Esther Povitsky does more stuff hopefully. Kind of movie that people will remember fondly 10 or 15 years from now, maybe not so much now. Product of it's time, genius will be recognized later.
It's, just, a bit, amateurish.
It watched like it was scripted, directed... by a film student. A bit generic. Like, who ever made it had watched Napoleon Dynamite too many times.
As for the acting. Sheesh! The lead isn't great. I'm trying to be nice, but, I don't know these people so I can be honest. She's a terrible actress. That's cruel. She could do with a few more acting lessons & a few less botox injections. I'm presuming it's botox as the upper part of her face has no movement, ergo, expression; which all adds to the lack of acting capability.
Also, the adult woman acting like a teenager bit, has been cornered by Aubrey Plaza. And it's a bit cringe worthy, especially when these people get further away from teens and closer to retirement age.
The lady lead in this is late 30s? The botox is a give away.
Jaded. Unoriginal. Amateurish.
But someone will think it's good.
I got just over half way before giving up.

This tells a story of a so-called social media star as she works in a local pharmacy and hounds her ex boyfriend for his affection. When one night the pharmacy she works in got robbed, she tries to solve it and starts understanding herself and the people around her.
Its somewhat run on the mill but I felt it tried something AND its mostly works. Its not that bad actually. I do think the initial half of the film was aimless and too stylized to a fault. It could have been tighter or at least setup the ending (which was convoluted and pulled out of nowhere). I also wished that at least two or three characters where built up more as I think that most of the characters has interesting stories in them BUT at least, once the crime starts its picks up AND finds its groove.
Danielle Bregoli is shocking so good in her cameo. I was so shocked how good she was. I wish she tries more acting work to be honest. I do think Esther Povitsky was just ok. I do think the writing failed her initially as it was just a lot of characterization, and skits that felt repetitive at some point. Other than that, this is just a potpourri of semi-famous actor/comedians who are doing their bit parts. Not enough material for judgment.
Overall, better than expected. I really appreciate that they were at least trying to be something, and was witty.

- PatzerThe amount of popcorn in June's paper boat after she closes the door is about half full. As she walks away, it is now full, despite her not having re-opened the door or getting any more.
