Director Danny DeVito’s 1989 BAFTA-nominated film The War of the Roses is being revived with a new cast and a new film from Searchlight called The Roses. Oscar-winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and BAFTA and Emmy winner Benedict Cumberbatch are set to star in The Roses, which, per Variety, has an official release date of Aug. 29.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to the beloved 1988 cult classic Beetlejuice, premiered in theaters on September 6th, 2024. Impressively, the sequel saw the return of some of the biggest stars from the original Beetlejuice's cast of characters, including Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O'Hara as Delia Deetz.

Because of the extensive cultural significance Beetlejuice Beetlejuice represented, it was a major box office success. The movie grossed $451 million worldwide according to Box Office Mojo, making it one of the highest-grossing movies of 2024. Even so, there were plenty of criticisms of and complaints about Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, some of which have been lodged at multiple Tim Burton movies, including Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

Chernin Entertainment has two new television bosses.

The company, which is part of Peter Chernin’s The North Road Company, has promoted Tracey Cook and Kaitlin Dahill to lead its TV division.

The pair, who have both been with the company for years, will continue to report to Chernin Entertainment president Jenno Topping.

There have been plenty of rumors across town about the future of Chernin Entertainment’s television operation, particularly after former Showtime exec Amy Israel joined North Road Company last year as President of Television.

Cook and Dahill are responsible for several upcoming Chernin series including Netflix’s Man on Fire starring Yahya Abdul Mateen II and The Madness starring Colman Domingo. and Apple’s Chief of War, created by and starring Jason Momoa.

The announcement was made by Chernin Entertainment president Jenno Topping, to whom Cook and Dahill will continue to report.

“Tracey and Kaitlin are among the industry’s most talented executives,” Topping said. “Their contributions over the past decade have been integral to Chernin Entertainment’s success, which in turn powered the growth of the broader North Road portfolio, and they have positioned us for continued success by spearheading our exceptional upcoming slate. Their elevation to head the television division is one of many ways we are addressing the opportunities in this shifting marketplace, as we become more nimble and creative in identifying new talent and content.”
