This is an interesting and twisted film. I do appreciate a good cold-war type story which has some of that here. Dermott Mulroney, who's been on and off my radar for years plays a corrupt landowner with a sinister streak. He carries this role well. The film starts out strong and is action packed and I thought the story was original. I would say more details would have been good to know towards the finale. Jackson Rathbone from the Twilight Series is decent but I thought Keohane, the other lead did a better job convincing me more as an FBI agent. Anyways, I enjoyed it, especially when I saw the actor from Game of Thrones (the Night King) come on. Almost didn't recognize him.
Watched with low expectations but ended up enjoying this. Popcorn movie. You'll get a few laughs and weird twist towards the end I didn't see coming. I was surprised to see Harvey Keitel in the cast which made me take a chance on it in the first place. Where's Keith Carradine been. Solid actor. Why isn't he in more films? No spoilers but you fon't see the ending coming. The filmmakers could have used a higher budget to fill out some of the action though. I still would recommend it as the storyline is original despite the fact that it starts off in familiar noir western territory. Graham Greene I swear plays the same guy in every film he's in, probably because he owns the type of recurring character he made a name for himself in.
You can taste the Nevada desert dust as the two Feds roll into some godforsaken barely existent town to do their job. Jackson Rathbone immediately draws you in. What happens next sets the tone for the twists and turns in this 1960's original yet throwback movie with early standout performances from Richard Brake and Michael P Walker. Unique and iconic Actors Dermot Mulroney, Harvey Keitel and even Graham Greene get your attention with their respective participation in a story you really don't see coming. You even get Forrie Smith of Yellowstone fame. I think this is a movie I will watch twice to pick up the details I missed the first time. Enjoy an Original;)
Believe i watched it all the way through, but...i'm glad that i did...
i know part of the reason, at LEAST, was the cast...i don't remember the last time i saw Harvey Keitel in anything... but i was real glad to see that he was part of the cast... and then there's Keith Carradine...Graham Greene...and i'd be remiss if i didn't mention Forrie Smith, who plays Lloyd on Yellowstone...
it was whack central as far as tone and characterizations go...trying to get that 60s feel in the mix...it didn't do a bad job of that, either...making much of it come off as comedic, as far as i was concerned...so i laughed through a lot of it...it has an unexpected turn in the last act, though...which, to a large degree, made it worthwhile sticking around... if any of this sounds appealing and you don't feel like you have anything better to watch(i did. But i just couldn't resist the draw of this cast), then i'd say go for it...interestingly enough, the other reviewers seemed to feel the same way i do...all two of them... ; - )
I think the plot, as thin as it is, is maybe the saving grace for this...hm..."movie".
The acting is very wooden and I would bet money on that the cinematographer is straight out of film school as the cinematography is so childishly simple and tries to use tired tropes - and fails. Yikes.
I lasted about 30-35 mins then the acting and camera got the best of me and I had to turn this thing off.
I'd say stay away from this one.
