I watched the movie "Ask Tesadüfleri Sever" - "Love Likes Coincidences" tonight the 11th of February 2011, and loved it by all means... In a movie, if you don't believe in a few coincidences, it is one thing, but in this movie, the story telling is a musical coincidences symphony in which two parallel lives, a love and the people circling around are successfully portrayed.
Ömer Faruk Sorak is a powerful director who makes the spectator find a place for him/herself a place in the story. He just finds the tempo and lets the river flow... Mehmet Günsür & Belçim Bilgin as the two main characters just fit in too... Especially Mehmet Günsür with his performance and charisma gives the movie the energy it needs. I'd like to congratulate Gökçe Doruk Erten as the director of casting too.. Since the movie covers a story of two people from their ages 7-10 up to end of 20's it is actually difficult to cast a continuum and that was done superb. In many successful American movies you sometimes get shocked by the casting of characters by different actors in such a long and evoluting piece of time.
Also an Oscar goes to Ipek Sorak who has created a perfect symphony of coincidences that lead to a touching love with her concept & story.
Thanks for all the efforts, I can say "Ask Tesadüfleri Sever" is the best Turkish movie I've watched for the last few years.

I am older and have been watching movies for six decades. From start to finish, this movie gripped me emotionally. The range of emotion extended well beyond anything I have ever experienced from a cinematic work. I would not call it "cheesy" or criticize that there were too many coincidences. One way or the other, the storyline reaches down and touches the viewer deeply.

Among many movies in my wish-list this was one of them. But due to not being in English language as well as not being highly rated I hadn't watched it for a long time. But one day I found this review from Google and after watching it I think I will give the exact same review to everyone whom I recommend.
Google review by user "subhash 2909" - "this movie is really underrated...even 9/10 doesn't seem enough to this movie.....give it a try and i bet u don't regret after watching...pictures like these are rare...mind blowing screenplay..just watch it undoubtedly.i assure you that this would be your fav movie after watching it."
If you are a fan of romantic genre movies then I would say this is a movie with different story, superb acting and last but not the least a must watch one!

Before I proceed let me give to you my background as an audience viewing a Turkish movie.
I have absolutely no idea about Turkish culture, the language, the people, the food or the music let alone Turkish cinema. But after years of having become frustrated and annoyed with the lack of quality and essence of Hollywood romance I knew I had to turn to a new film industry altogether to satisfy my need for romance (as a movie enthusiast).
How I stumbled upon this title is another story but I wish to thank IMDb for that, I would just say that this movie is easily the best romance movie I have ever seen.
It just checks all the right boxes!
Let me appreciate the chemistry between the pair, Ozgur and Deniz first, their love looks real and not overdone at all. It is just perfect, just about right. I have always believed that for the romance genre no matter how big a star cast you manage to get, if the chemistry between the two leads is not there you just fail.
Before Sunrise and Sunset are prime examples of successful romantic cinema which worked because the couple worked too, of course a script is ever important but it's the actors that attract you in the first place.
The story line never bores the viewer even though you might find yourself predicting what happens in the end, your prediction will most likely come 5 minutes before the movie ends, so you can be sure to enjoy every bit of this amazingly done film.

I saw this movie yesterday in London. The main pleasure I took from it was to see that Mehmet Günsür has become a very good actor.
I have seen him last time in an Ozpetek's movie called "Hamam-The Turkish bath" in 1997, he was very young at that time, but I remember he showed a very good performance even there in a supporter role (Alessandro Gassman was the lead character).
Going back to Ask Tesadufleri Sever, the translation of the title in English should be "Love likes coincidences" and I must say the writers went a little bit too far with the coincidences stuff making the plot too unrealistic and sometimes ridicule.
And that is a shame because the good acting (Günsür, Yigit Özsener and the actress who plays Günsür mother) and the beautiful locations of both Ankara and Istanbul could make this movie a little pearl to compete with international titles.
Worthy to be watched for the good acting and for Ankara's and Istanbul's views, but be prepared to the disappointing and sometime painful script.
