Witch is the universal synonym for hatred, fear and suspicion of women. 'Mushlilon ke bavjood' builds series of powerful cases against witch hunting within the rural community of the village Jhunwada, which is symbolic of rural India in grip of this evil practice. It draws linkages between illiteracy and social degradation on one side and the evil practice of witch hunting on the other. It explains how the vested interests of handful of people are transferred onto the weakest members of their community Â– the women, through this horrifying practice. The film also points out the problems of superstition and ignorance that make the village folk highly vulnerable to exploitations. The film etches the stories of three women Â– Mangla, Shanichri and Maina belonging to the poor strata of the village society, who fall pray to this shameful practice. After outlining the actual incidents, the film moves on to the causes and repercussions pinpointing the underlying forces that give active support to the existence of such a tradition. The film emphasizes the role of education to fight against this sheer cruelty. It also highlights social responsibility of the educated to raise voice against this evil practice and to translate their positive thinking into concrete actions. The movie apart from being a blatant expression of obscurantism, superstition and a clear voice case of violation of womenÂ’s right to life where vested interests played a major role, is also a victory of determined woman Â‘LajoÂ’ who stood up to punish the culprits. 'Mushkilon ke bavjood' is a victory for the forces, which stand for scientific temper. ItÂ’s a victory of logic over superstition, literacy over ignorance and light over darkness
