Cuckoo: A Celebration of Mr. Laurel and Mr. Hardy

Omnibus is the long running art strand for the BBC.

This special was a celebration of Laurel and Hardy and I watched it back in 1974.

What made it stand out was the documentary was narrated by Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise. No doubt inspired themselves by the duo.

Also the contributors were legends themselves ranging from Bob Monkhouse, Jerry lewis to Marcel Marceau.

As of 2025, only Dick Van Dyke is still alive from those that contributed.

Once again not only did they admire the duo, they found them immensely funny and influential to their own careers.

The program runs through their lives. More importantly was the examination of their classic comedy shorts. Breaking down the scenes, many of which Stan Laurel had formulated.

It reminded me watching this documentary again, just how funny they were. One of the best.
