Refreshing, inspired, quirky, engaging, new kind of cop show. The cinematography of the city is great(how could you not be pulled in immediately upon seeing the Brooklyn Bridge in all its glory). The characters are fascinating, the acting ever intense and amazingly real. The dialogue is reminiscent of a David Mamet screenplay. The stories are dark and completely compelling. I preferred the first case to the second, but both are excellent.
I see that as of now, The Calling has not been renewed. I, for one would be extremely disappointed not to meet these characters again and watch their relationships to themselves and each other evolve.

... have only just come across-started-watching Peacock's The Calling... after three episodes main thoughts center around, how in the world can there possibly be five-more-episodes-remaining, it seems like it took forever getting through just these three... going to give it a '7' for now, with the expectation that it will continue-coming together more once E4-8 are done, and maybe achieve a higher rating
... one written review mentions overall rating would be higher if it were on Prime or Netflix... surely there would be more than 3K-ratings, but 'much-higher'.. we'll just have to wait-see what the remaining episodes bring... acting-script-production-values all pretty-solid... look forward to finish-watching rest of season-1
... 2nd half of season a-full-180, like a completely different show... when the 2nd half episodes have changed majority of story's characters-plot, you must adapt readily, but that requires the new & different characters-plot measure up with those of the 1st half episodes... here they don't initial-viewing, script-plot never was good in this 2nd half of the season, continually just-going-thru-motions-mediocre.. hoping to raise rating, instead had to drop it down... should there be a 2nd season, it's gotta be more like 1st half of S1... maybe watching it again would make it better, but right now don't really want to... possibly will watch the four of them again before S2 airs... if S2 airs.

I am enjoying this show much better than most police procedural detective shows. I see a few bad reviews here and the complaining of overacting or reducing religion to a cliché. But compared to "law and order" or some of the other mainstream shows, this holds my interest much more.
The woman who plays the partner of Avi does seem a little one-dimensional sometimes. They don't develop her character very much in the first four episodes other than making her and the other cop comedy relief characters to Avi's straight man.
And unfortunately the captain of their division is forced to say the same lines over and over every episode. I don't blame the actress who plays the captain, but why do cop shows always have to have the lieutenant or captain yell at the detectives constantly that they're doing a terrible job whole time they are actually solving a crime effectively.
Even with flaws I am entertained.

This is not your run of the mill police procedural. It was very different and I enjoyed everything about it. The writing, the acting and the production were all very well done. Based on novels by D. A. Mishani, the plots are well-developed and the characters are unique. Each story has twists and turns that you don't see coming at you.
I, for one, hope they keep these characters going with new stories and cases to solve. There are four books in the series, so there is more material to develop.
If you're weary of the angst-riddled detectives you usually see, give Avi a chance.
Don't listen to nay sayers. Give this a chance.

Thoroughly enjoyed the show ,very different to the
"all Hollywood and little substance." typical cop shows
Love the dynamic between each of the characters and how they all balance each other out, you want to get to know the characters story and lives. It has the perfect balance of their lives and actually fighting crime.
The fact that its an angle of compassion, patience and understanding, rather than "shoot first ask later " is really refreshing. Not copy paste drama but a human element to it.
Hope there is a season 2 would really like to see where they take the story and what else they come up.
