I adore the film's depiction of middle-class families and their everyday struggles in a lighthearted manner. Most of the comedic moments are indeed over-the-top and delivered with exaggerated enthusiasm, but they still manage to create genuinely humorous situations.
The film's downfall lies not in its intention but rather in the script's lack of clarity and ambition. Additionally, I feel the family dynamic is terribly underplayed, which in turn makes the dramatic scenes and the emotions within them feel superficial, or rather half-baked in a sense.
Good for passing the time, but nothing exemplary to write home about.

When there are VFX based science fiction, pointless action, repeat horror movies endlessly hitting audience and when there's band of content in the web series endlessly coming to audience, a warm, romantic, old fashioned love story is always welcome.
For new comer, Sara did justice to her role. Vishal has done pretty good job. Others have done well too. Storyline may not be gripping but stayed around the morality of family values.
It's a good entertainer for a family! Few light laughs, views of indore ki gallis, local dialect, food joints, couple of good songs, light subject. All in all, good one!

Somya is married to Kapil and dreams of having her house. She is not happy living with the joint family due to lack of privacy and Kapil's aunt meddling with their life. The inter-caste marriage already has it's challenges which the loving couple have overcome but the dream to have their own house is shattered after the one they chose is proven to be very expensive. The couple hears about the government scheme i.e. Awas yojana and plans to cheat in order to get a house allotted. As they take the extreme step to divorce each other, hiding the real reason from everybody, what situations they get themselves into forms rest of the story.
For an year, I got carried away with the hype around this film and probably had a different expectations from it. Sadly, the weak writing pulls the film down in such a way, it simply provides no chance for the lead actors to save it. The proceedings is simply devoid of any fun. The songs however I couldn't enjoy in the film thanks to all the insta reels as they felt over exposed. The writing is predictable from the word go and overacting in the courtroom is something I don't find funny at any circumstances. Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal were good and has a good supporting cast yet the emotions remain superficial throughout for the actors to make it work.

Family movies do well in India because family audiences are able to relate and resonate with the main and supporting characters. If the direction is good the movie will cover all situations from life in a realistic way so the audiences of all age groups can say that " It has happened/ can happen to me". All young people in their 20s have dreamt of having their own home. While the affluent among them easily manage it is the people from the poorer class who find it difficult because of high cost. The story of this movie is about one such middle class, not so well off, newly married couple Soumya ( Sara Ali Khan) and Kapil ( Vicky Kaushal) who live in a joint family in Indore. Since they dont get privacy in their small home, they try to buy a Government flat through an unscrupulous middle man who asks them to go through a fake divorce but the plans backfire and the young couple is left high and dry.
Director Laxman Utekar has targeted family audiences with this simple story which will appeal to them. All scenes are presented well. However the movie is a notch below his earlier directorial efforts like " Luka Chhupi" and " Mimi". I feel that the ending/ climax is disappointing and unconvincing. Maybe the advantages of staying together in a joint family needed to be put across in a clearer manner. In acting both Vicky and Sara are impressive and have brought out the happy and sad moments with great authenticity. Rakesh Bedi and Sharib Hashmi are excellent as usual in supporting roles. Srishti Rindani impresses in a small role.

Well filmed and thoughtful. Director captures nicely how Indian women in lower middle class have to accept their husband's dictums and have no right to be ambitious.
It is the story or a woman who wants her husband and herself to live in an owned house and be well off but is misled to take the wrong path due to her husband's lack of ambition and his being a miser.
Movie is very realistic and a good portrayal by Sara Ali Khan. Having lived a few years in South India we have all seen lower middle class marrying their girls before 18. They have children by 21 and are expected to look after their homes and have no desires or ambitions in life.
While people claim that they have respect for women, the ground reality in India is still that women are not yet equal to men and don't have the same rights to build careers and be ambitious. This movie in a light mood highlights an important prevalent social stigma. Wish it had better and deeper insights though.
