There's was originally meant to be a Dead Space 4, where Ellie is the main character. She would have been scavenging to stay alive the entire game, with the writers saying that in the Dead Space universe there's something WORSE than the Brethren Moons. "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know."

Meaning the mass slaughter by the Necromorphs in the long run is a mercy compared to what else is a threat to THEM.

At the end of Dead Space 3, Mr. Clarke's helmet is damaged and he removes it. Given that this expansion takes place immediately thereafter, Mr. Clarke should not have the helmet that is produced by his suit.
