Fantacide

Nazis, nudity, homosexuality, rape, bestiality, gerontophilia (it's when you are relatively young and like to have sex with old people), sadomasochism, sexism, sexual violence, plenty of gore and politically incorrect jokes. Well, it even has some gerontophile Nazi homosexuality and some weird social commentary. And I have probably forgotten something. Also the killings of women are very sexist.

The plot goes something like this: A journalist tries to find his partner and teams up with a former detective. The partner got killed by a Nazi cult when they stumbled onto one of the cults rituals and the journalist got knocked unconscious. While looking for the partner they stumble onto something bigger, namely that the Nazi cult is after some kind of occult spear with which they hope to resurrect Hitler and the third Reich or something like that.

Of course you can't judge this kind of movie by the same standards as a Hollywood-film. I would say with a budget of 6000£, the fx of this film is outstanding. Honestly, the gore is great and outranks many movies with 20 times the budget of this one. And I really want to stress this: considering the budget, this movie is a real accomplishment.

Also, the acting is quite OK for a low budget movie. I mean, of course it sucks, but the characters manages to be funny and I really don't think you can expect more than that.

The soundtrack is sometimes extremely funny, mainly when it consists of perky old-school pop (not sure if it actually is pop, but it sound popisch, perky and 1950s old anyway). The soundtrack actually made me laugh out loud a couple of times. Especially look out for the song in the bestiality scene. Make sure you listen to the lyrics.

If I should complain about something, it is that this film is too long. Many scenes could have been shortened considerably without loosing anything, so much that it would probably not have had to be longer than maybe 1:20. Low budget gore also generally works better if it's a little shorter.

Also, the sometimes coarse accent would have called for some subtitles, especially because the dialog is most of the time really funny if one manage to follow it. So Shane Mathers, if you by any chance read this review, for the next project after "Terror nation", please make it a little shorter and ad some subtitles, in case you're still using actors with coarse accent. Other than that, keep up the good work!

And finally, of course this movie is not for everyone. If you haven't seen any low budget gore before, if you don't like the genre or have a weak stomach, chances are you won't like this movie. Or if you are a politically correct douche bag that feels like taking a dump every time someone tells a racist or sexist joke, you will probably hate it (and this review, since you think I'm being ignorant and intolerant of your relation towards your opinions, and your need to take them deadly serious or something like that). But if you are not snobbish when it comes to budget and you have a sense of humor, you will probably love it. And to be clear, the point of having racist or sexist jokes is of course not to make a serious statement, but to offend. So if you've gotten offended, well... mission accomplished!

I would also recommend not being completely sober when you watch it. You don't have to be drunk (or stoned if that is what you prefer) out of your mind. But a little buzz will surely enhance the experience.

If you are a fan of hard-gore films and are not easily offended...this is the film for you!

It's certainly not for everyone thats for sure (my wife lasted about 10 minutes max!)

I managed to pick the Special Edition DVD up a few years ago, and I have seen it 4 times...I loved it!

A big shout has to go out to Peter Rands (Oppenheimer), this guy must be in his 80's, and Im not sure he knew what he was doing half the time, but he had me and my mates in stitches!

The film offends just about EVERYONE, seriously no one escapes here! It contains rape, animal cruelty, violence to gay people, Jewish people, torture...basically everything in the book.

The gore effects, which there are plenty of, are very good on the whole. The acting, well it's not the best, but that's what makes it so much fun...think Peter Jackson's Bad Tast, just a Director and a bunch of mates making a film, I think Shane Mather has a lot going for him, I been keeping an eye out for more stuff, but as yet there has'nt been anything.

If this is anything to go by...I can't wait! So basically if you like extreme violence, loads of gore, and don't get offended, you got to try and seek this out...it's well worth it!

By the way, forget looking for it in the UK, the BBFC would throw it out in the first 5 minutes...and never welcome it back!

In a decade where British horror films have made a big splash (Shaun Of The Dead, Broken, The Descent, Eden Lake etc), Fanacide has unfortunately been overlooked by many. Which is a real shame as it's a fantastic gore epic, the likes of which we haven't seen since the late 80s (think Peter Jackson's Bad Taste, Jim Muro's Street Trash). There aren't any other gore films from this decade with such an impact, mixing gore, offensive humour and creativity with such deftness. What's more, the film is never going to get past the BBFC. Not only are the gore FX sublime (and plentiful), the film is also blessed with near-hardcore sexual violence and swipes at just about any and every minority. In short, Fantacide is stupendously gory, explicit, riotously funny and politically incorrect. But more than that, it's also highly original and deceptively well-made. Seek it out. Highly recommended. So long as you don't have a weak stomach and can take the constant barrage of laugh-out-loud obscenities.

A friend of mine in the UK told me to watch this flick. So I did by just watching the trailer on the net. I have seen a lot but what I just have seen, well, it's a hodgepodge of all things you could be offended. First of all, the reason why we here at the continent never heard of this flick is the fact that it has had his release problems. I won't go into details, all I know is that it had to be released by Unearthed but things went wrong. It was officially released but nowadays it's OOP and only available as a download. The fact that they speak in dialect could be a problem for many geeks out there. I'm used to understand cockney but still I had to listen carefully to understand what they were saying. Due the reason that there aren't any subs it could be a let down. The second reason why people pushed the eject button is the fact that they show it all, I mean, bestiality, cruelty to animals, rape, necrophilia, and I can go on. The acting by some is mediocre but the effects are the main reason to watch it. It's really a gore frenzy. And I surely wouldn't recommend it to easily offended. There are some scene's that are really nasty. One girl goes naked only to be raped with a bottle. All in front of the camera, she really shows her orifices. The last 15 minutes it's all about the red stuff, I guess they had still some budget to get unhinged. For some this one really will be some celluloid shite for others they will indulge it.
