Seems like people didn't give this show much of a chance considering how many 1-3 star reviews popped up after just the first episode or two. Yes it's not R&M or Community but damn people at least wait until after the first few episodes to leave such bad reviews.
Really this show is in the 5-7~ range IMO, parts are good and parts are bad but it does have its moments. If you like Greek mythology and goofy comedy it's entertaining at least, the setting is interesting and the style of humor does seem a bit more like Community than R&M though it shares themes with both like dysfunctional family dynamics.
Seems like the kind of show that will improve over the first couple seasons as it spends more time world building and building up the character dynamics. Wasn't sure about it during the first few episodes but it does improve and going in blind helped, if you have high expectations you'll probably be disappointed but it seems like a lot of people are being overly harsh due to it not being Rick and Morty 2.0.
Hopefully it gets another season or two and a chance to improve.

I will start this by saying I don't think this is a perfect show but I did enjoy the first few episodes. A lot of people were complaining about how it doesn't measure up to Rick and Morty. A valid but pointless observation in my opinion. This isn't Rick and Morty set in the past and that's what we need. Rick and Morty was lighting in a bottle not every show is going to be a home-run from the start but there's plenty of shows that didn't have a strong start and now are phenomenal Bob's Burgers being one. I think if you just ignore Dan Harmon's name and watch it don't think about the drunk science man show and critique it for not being that show. I think you will find yourself enjoying most of the first 3 episodes at the least. Now my really big issue with it that I just couldn't seem to look past is the voice acting from Matt Berry seems a little wooden to me and can't look past it. The first episode does start a little rocky but I thought the second two were completely better and have no where to go up from there. While the episodes aren't perfect I will say they are more consistently funny than new Family Guy episodes. Long story short. ITS NOT RICK AND MORTY GET OVER IT. Berry could do better. Give it a chance I think you will find a new comfort show for humor in this comedic romp through the Age of Mythology.
I feel like too many people have too high of expectations of this show, seeing as it came from the mind of Dan Harmon, one of the creators and the main writer for Rick and Morty. But here's the part that blows my mind: It's a LOT like Rick and Morty. It carries the same quick-witted humor and social/familial dilemmas, all while having fun reinventing the origins of many aspects to mankind, with a heavy Greek myth twist.
It starts out a bit off, to be honest. I felt like the modern speech infused with ancient Greek times was a tad annoying. I feared this show was going to try too hard, and just end up flopping. It had that atmosphere the first episode.
I am glad I stuck through it because it only took me through the second episode to really start getting into it. A lot of the fun has to do with putting fun spins on Greek gods. It exposes the Greek gods for what they really are: just like mortal humans, only with the gift of immortality. They're just as egocentric, crooked, zany, and erratic as mankind. They have family problems. They are NOT all-knowing, and they can have feelings.
Let's just take a moment to mention how awesome Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade are. I might be biased as a huge "The IT Crowd" fan, but those guys are just great. And I'm fast becoming a huge fan of the character Hippocampus, for a fish he's really got some huge balls. The way he deals with characters like Prometheus, or even his own step-mom. Pretty badass.
There is a lot of subtle humor too. Silly humor, cynicism, dark humor, irony, you know, the fun stuff. Like Deliria forcing two mortals to fan her while basking next to large fire lanterns. Or how little the lives of mortals are valued, by both gods and humans (and monsters). It's a good show, give it a try if you like adult animation and Greek mythology.

While there were a couple of zingers that earned a silly giggle from us the humor was mostly the same we've heard from most of the 'comics' doing the voiceovers before and sounded unlike they were playing a character role but playing the same tired roles they've been playing for years.
Some of Matt Berry's jokes and Richard Ayoade's dialog were mostly repeats from The I. T. Crowd or What We Do In The Shadows albeit with a mostly different cast.
While we clearly enjoy the other shows we were hoping for something different this time. I'll watch a couple more episodes to see how it develops but for now it seems very mediocre considering the stellar talent list.

I see some of the reviews on here that are between 1-3 stars which is just extreme. Lets be real, this show is not a great show. Its not that funny, the story is not engaging and I couldn't relate, connect or care for any of the characters in this show. I gave it a shot and watched 2 episodes.
Its not a terrible show and does have some entertainment value. It certainly does not deserve some of the low ratings I am seeing on here. That being said I find myself giving this show a 5/10 as its watchable, has some level of story/plot but its just not a good one. The comedy managed to get a few 'half-smiles' from me but that's about it. Even if Matt Berry is doing the voice work, it doesn't really matter when the writing is not good. I mean you could have Brad Pit doing voice work on the show, but if the writing is not good it won't matter right?
I can't really relate this show to any current toons being produced. Its not clever, rude and funny like Rick and Morty. Its not dumb, funny and over the top like the Simpsons. I suppose its unique in the fact that it doesn't fit with anything out there, but when its a boring generic un-funny cartoon with poor writing I suppose it might match up with other shows that were cancelled.
My recommendation: If you are bored and have nothing else to watch this show is a good way to kill some time as it DOES have some entertainment value. Just go in with low expectations and you will be ok. 5/10.

- WissenswertesFeatures many alums from Community (2009), another Dan Harmon show. These include: Keith David, Jim Rash, Yvette Nicole Brown, Erik Charles Nielsen, Joel McHale, Alison Brie, and Danny Pudi.
- PatzerThe series is supposed to take place in the Greek world. So Deliria would never be the name of a goddess, as the word is Latin (Roman) in origin. Instead, the proper goddess, In Greek mythology, would be Ate, the personification of moral blindness and error, who could blind the minds of both gods and men and lead them astray. Ate was the eldest of Zeus's many children, with Eris (Strife) as her mother, but she was banished from Olympus by Zeus for blinding him to Hera's trickery denying Heracles his birthright.
