New cast members have been revealed for the upcoming horror thriller Night Patrol. Among them is Cm Punk, one of WWE's biggest stars who also happens to be experienced as a horror genre actor.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Night Patrol will feature Punk as part of the cast alongside horror genre fan favorite Justin Long. Other cast members include Jermaine Fowler (Sting), Rj Cyler (Power Rangers), Dermot Mulroney (Scream VI), Freddie Gibbs (Down With the King), Yg (White Boy Rick), Flying Lotus (Ash), Jon Oswald (Lowlife), and Nicki Micheaux (Lowlife).

For forty years, the movie that has come to mind whenever the title Night Patrol came up was a goofball comedy starring the Unknown Comic Murray Langston and Linda Blair – but now director Ryan Prows is aiming to give us another Night Patrol to think about. This one is a horror film with a cast that includes Jermaine Fowler (The Blackening), Justin Long (Tusk), wrestler Cm Punk (Girl on the Third Floor), Dermot Mulroney (Young Guns), Rj Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), Freddie Gibbs (Down With The King), Yg (White Boy Rick), Flying Lotus (Ash), Jon Oswald (Lowlife), and Nicki Micheaux (Lowlife). Filming took place in Los Angeles and wrapped earlier this month.

Visit Films has picked up worldwide sales rights for Iranian director Negin Ahmadi’s documentary “Dream’s Gate,” which depicts an all-female Kurdish militia, ahead of its Berlin Film Festival world premiere.

To make “Dream’s Gate,” which will launch from Berlin’s Generation section for young audiences, Ahmadi traveled to the war zone of Northern Syria where she gained access to the lives of the women in the Ypj, an all-female Kurdish militia within the armed wing of the Syrian-based Democratic Union Party (Pyd).

“Dream’s Gate” is directed by Ahmadi and produced by Iran’s Elaheh Nobakht, whose credits include “The Apple Day,” “Beloved,” and “Silent House.” The doc is a co-production between Iran, France, and Norway, through production companies Eli Image, Ava Studios Paris, Spætt Film As, and Babel Doc.

A cross-section of works from revered masters and fresh faces will take center stage at Poland’s American Film Festival (Aff), whose 13th edition takes place Nov. 8 – 13 in Wrocław, Poland.

Established in 2010 as the sister event of the New Horizons Film Festival, a showcase of independent and arthouse cinema launched in 2001, the Aff bills itself as the first film event in Central Europe solely devoted to the works of contemporary and classic American cinema.

“We are searching for those voices, those auteurs, those talents and tendencies, and those waves of American film that are the most original and show some vibes of the current moment,” said festival director Ula Śniegowska.

Similar in spirit to France’s long-running Deauville American Film Festival, which this year will host its 48th edition, the Aff aims to spotlight the breadth and diversity of contemporary American filmmaking.

Sony has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled Down with the King, which originally premiered last year and is finally arriving to watch on VOD coming soon this summer. It first premiered in the 2021 Cannes Film Festival sidebar selection known as Acid, and it also played at the Deauville Film Festival and American Film Festival in Poland last year. Real-life rapper Freddie Gibbs stars as a famous rapper named Money Merc in the film. Disillusioned with the music industry and the pressures of being a celebrity, he leaves the city and his career behind to find himself in a small-town farming community in the Berkshires. This sounds great! The cast includes Bob Tarasuk, Jamie Neumann, David Krumholtz, and Sharon Washington. This is exactly the kind of premise for a film that I enjoy, and glad this isn't some dumb comedy.

The first ever Sands: International Film Festival, set to be held in Scotland’s St Andrews, has revealed its line-up.

Running March 25-27, the program will consist of nine fiction and non-fiction features, including a mystery film not yet announced.

On the list is documentary Long Live My Happy Head, from Leith-based filmmaking duo Will Hewitt and Austen McCowan, which is a love story about comic books and caner that follows a long-distance couple as they navigate a Covid lockdown. The film will premiere at this year’s BFI Flare festival next month.

Screening in St Andrews having premiered recently in Sundance is Jono McLeod’s My Old School, a documentary-animation hybrid that unravels a Scottish scandal.

Arriving from Sundance’s 2021 edition will be Blerta Basholli’s feature debut Hive, Amalia Ulman’s El Planeta, and Christopher Makoto Yogi’s I Was a Simple Man.

In The Cathedral, which was part of the Biennale College Cinema at the Venice Film Festival, an unseen narrator unfolds the constellation of familial relationships of Jesse Damrosh, born in 1987, chronicling the dissolution of his parents’ marriage and the feuds, money concerns and deaths that define a typical middle-class American existence.

Part semi-autobiographical portrait and part-catalogue of the objects, people, and moments that characterized some 20 years of America, The Cathedral is a described as an “experiential meditation on youth and the recent past”.

The Austin Film Festival has announced new additions to its 2021 lineup, including the Kristen Stewart-starring “Spencer” and Stephen Karam’s “The Humans.” The festival will take place in Austin, Texas and online from Oct. 21-28.
