Austria. 1929.

A young novice, shy and interested by discover the world. A wise abbot. A young farmer delivering, every day to monastery errands. And the subtle, delicate, beautiful , in real profound measure feelings developed between novice and farmer.

Virtues of film- so many ! From cinematography and symbols - the chairs and the table near tree- , the old songs offered to guest by the women of Jakob family to the dialogue between novice and fiancee of farmer to the return of Paulus so late at monastery and the words of abbot.

In short, no doubts, a film deserving to be loved. Seductive for each scene, for beautiful performances, for rafined construction of tension and for inspired portrait of Austrian rural between wars.
