Shudderbugs

Slow. Very slow. Nothing really happens throughout the movie other than terrible dialogue over a few phone calls. A woman wonders around occasionally finding clues that lead to ...yeah nothing. This is not a thriller as claimed. I suppose it's a mystery on how this ever got distributed. There isn't anything to this movie remotely interesting or appealing to a normal human being. Just don't waste your time unless you just want to waste time.

Nothing happens in the entire movie. Grieving daughter runs around expansive property and goes for jogs. There is no dialog but for a few phone calls to coroners office. There is the token creepy neighbor and a cute Siamese cat. I gave one star for the sweet cat. There are some nursery rhymes which are supposed to add an air of mystery, but the movie was too stupid for such an air. Actress was not bad in her grieving role, it was just a bad movie.

I expected more of a thriller or mystery based on the synopsis I found, but the movie ended up feeling more like an archival of a woman processing her grief, mostly alone. I'd rate it a bit lower as a mystery film or thriller.

The pacing is slow, deliberately slow. If you want to be on your phone while watching, this probably isn't the right movie for you. The actress is the only character on screen for probably 90% of the film. I really enjoyed the sound directing, and the cinematography was overall decent. The dialogue was awkward in a realistic sort of way. Acting was fine. The story was okay, but I never really felt captivated. I didn't love the camerawork or camera angles a lot of the time.

Really challenging for me to rate. I may have rated higher if I wasn't currently processing my own grief.
