Right what would you get if you had a £10 budget, rubbish CGI people, people that have never stepped foot in an acting class, a director out of there senses and production who are apparently drunk? The simple answer is this film. No one can give me back the time this film has robbed me of. It is certainly the worst film i have ever watched, and i have watched many. I love films from many different genres, but I'm always up for anything with action, occult and horror references. This film however bobbles all over the place, between really awful acting, terrible effects and a rambling strange and often incomprehensible story. People will say this is a B movie but really it can't even merit that! the characters are so wooden i think they came pre varnished. All you are really left with is sitting there thinking, how the hell did i fall into the trap of paying to watch that? Trust me don't pay to watch it, don't even watch it when its available for free, there are many more worth while things to do with your time like counting dust particles or individually plucking the hairs from your toes!
Brian A. Metcalf has in under 90 minutes managed to use every cliché from classic the horror and fantasy movies and yet manages to go against everything that makes up a compelling movie for any fan of the genre.
The script, to begin with, is a horrible mess starting off with a narrative ego within a flashback of many making parts of the story over explicit whilst absolutely impossible to engage in. The fact is that it's very hard to grasp (or care) what story line is important and which are less so until the far to drawn-out ending.
The characters act inconsistently all over and the very same threats that oppose them are as often deadly in one scene to be ridiculously easy to defeat in the next.
The scenography and the special effects are flat and ugly and the fighting scenes (there's A LOT of them) mainly consist of monsters running straight into swords.
I think that Metcalf was aiming for a mix of "The Lord of the Rings" and "Night of the Living Dead" but ended up with Uwe Boll's "Dungeons and Dragons" mixing with "Resident Evil" (the first of the video games, if you remember the script and acting in that).
It made me sad to see Brad Dourif wading around in this crap and not even he manages to be free of its stench.

"My best friend just died, you come out of nowhere, and those things..." Fourteen years after the death of his wife and daughter Michael (Nichols) is forced to revisit the past. When his niece finds a necklace she is attacked and saved by a strange man named Jacob. Soon after, mysteries and secrets are revealed. This is a movie that is for hardcore fans of vampire/demon/zombie type movies. I say that because in order to be able to make it through you have to be fascinated by this type of genre. The acting is horrendous and so distracting that I found it very very difficult to make it through. This is too serious to be a comedy, but not enough to be taken seriously. I was not impressed by this at all, but again, for fans of this type of movie you may like this. Overall, this was almost impossible for me to make it through, but I have never really been all that into this type of movie. I give it a D.
This movie is awful in every point of view: -- Really boring, unexciting storyline. -- Horrible acting. Non of the actors put some character-deepness into his / her role. -- Special effects are poor (even considering that it's a low budget movie). Main reason is that everything is so fast and cheesy, that you can't enjoy a single action scene.... you basically have to make up yourself AFTER the scene, what exactly happened in that one. -- Soundtrack is only consisting of standard high frequency horror noise... which was a pain in the ass... -- Balance between the volume of speak / music is bad. Takes a lot of concentration to listen to those (mostly simple and ridiculous) dialogs. Subtitles are recommended... --Most importantly: The zombies in this movie are NOT slow, scary and relentless. They're the opposite, which is another big contra.
An Oscar should be given ... to whoever can sit through this movie.
Seriously, some of the worst acting I have ever seen. I do not know how this movie could have been worse, the sound and scene editing was off and the story was 1) not backed up, 2) ruined by the distractingly bad acting, and 3) made worse by the thought of attempting to make you care about the actors.
I've seen over 1300 movies, this one makes me wish I was blind. Do not even attempt to give it a chance.
I'll put it plainly, if you were going to make a drinking game out of the amount of "OMG this is horrible" moments ... you would be wasted at the 20 minute mark.

- WissenswertesJacob appears to be using a kendo style of sword fighting, most likely okuri-ashi. This style of fighting is meant for short or enclosed distances. The way Jacob uses his sword is purely a stylistic choice.
- PatzerWhen Sarah and Jacob cross the water they are knee deep. Moments later they are approaching the covered bridge and the bottoms of their trouser legs are not wet.
