I have to say after watching the trailers, Big Nate looked quite promising and I'm usually not interested in modern day Nicktoons, but after I got a taste of this show I was still somehow disappointed. I've never read the Big Nate comics but this show just isn't interesting or funny. The animation is honestly amazing I will say with this being one of the Paramount+ Nickelodeon shows. I admire how much of a budget they put into this show visually, but that's all I really could find pleasing. The plots are really uninspired and juvenile, most of the characters are annoying, and the jokes are unfunny. Nate himself is more of an obnoxious wrecking ball than a sympathetic character so it's hard for me to understand him. A lot of the dialogue doesn't tell us who these characters really are and characters say really pointless things at times. This show like many modern Nickelodeon shows seems to have a gross-out obsession for no reason too. I'd recommend skipping this one even if you're a fan of the Big Nate comics, I'm sure the comic books are good but this show isn't. It doesn't even translate well with the source material.

Big Nate is an excellent show for kids of all ages! The show has wonderful characters, amazing comedy and teaches valuable lessons. It's an ideal series for families.
Big Nate is an animated series based on books of the same name. Big Nate follows Nate (Ben Giroux), a boy in sixth grade, as he learns about life and grows into his own, while accompanied by his friends, Dee Dee (Bryce Charles), Francis (Daniel MK Cohen), and Teddy (Arnie Pantoja).
The comedy of Big Nate is genius. Nate, Dee Dee, Francis, and Teddy each have their own sense of humor, giving balance to the group and adding to their individual personalities. The animation stands out-it's computer animated, and the heads of the characters are bigger than their bodies; their hair has specific lines and an exaggerated, stiff shape to look like the comics the show is based on. The characters all have depth, giving them as much importance as the titular character. They all have their own backstories and lines that they mutter under their breath. These expression make viewers laugh and provide clues about their personas. By the end of the episodes, we're left wanting more of Nate and his friends. The translation of the books to the small screen is spectacular. It's clear how much the creators of the show cared about doing justice to its published material. The execution of the animation, Nate, and his journey through sixth grade is done with precision and attention.
The messages of this series are learned through Nate. He learns about discovering who you are and who you want to be, the power of friendship, and the hardships of family. Nate makes some enemies and at times doesn't know who he can trust, and yet he always has his friends in his corner.
I give Big Nate 5 out 5 stars and recommend it for ages 11 to 16. It begins streaming on Paramount+ February 17, 2022.

The Flanderization of the characters is out of control. Flanderization is named after Ned Flanders. Its when you take a multi dimensional character and reduce them to a few over exaggerated traits. Nate went from being a kid who sometimes goofed off in class to stealing his teachers dentures. It replaced the more deadpan humor of the comic strip with broad slapstick. On its own it would be a fine show but this isn't Big Nate.
I saw it coming on one day. I had a feeling I had watched it before but it said new. So I recorded it. Man, I love it. It is a fun, simple show. Great to watch as a final thing before going to sleep.
I love the animation. It does not look cheap. It reminds me of a show that would have been on in the 90s. Which I find interesting.
I love the characters. Each is easy to see and figure out. They are just kids. Friends, enemies. Simple stuff.
The stories are fun to watch. I get so into the episodes.
Never knew there were comics on it. I will check those out one day also.
I watch this from FIOS. I find it more fun that way. I can look forward to an episode each week.

It's a very unfunny show. I didn't get engaged with the characters, the humour is not funny at all and made me pause the episodes several times, the episode plots are insanely boring and filled with pointless scenes that go on for too long. Not a great show from what I've seen, hopefully it can improve in the next season's since I like the big Nate comics...
