Left abandoned.

Being the first ever film festival that I attended in person,I was thrilled to learn recently that Cine-Excess were holding an online weekend festival. Signing up,I went for the first title that came up on the page.

Backed by a fittingly droning score, writer/ director Antonio Rotunno makes an extremely irritating feature film debut of long, drawn-out stilted takes, which whilst aiming to shock, miss and instead hit a numbing atmosphere.

Offering paper thin psychological depth to the characters in the script, Rotunno & cinematographer Victor Vazquez douse the movie in over-saturated colours, that take sting from the intended shock from the close-ups on the gore, leaving the would-be set-pieces in a grinding, repetitive loop, with any trace of Horror left abandoned.
