Guatemala: Corazón del Mundo Maya

I learnt a lot from this short but informative documentary. It is really worth watching. This was the first time that I was watching and learning about this beautiful country. Now, Guatemala is one of my Must-See countries in my list . This beautiful country can satisfy you from different angles: history ( Maya civilization), Spanish colonial buildings , nature ( forest and rivers, Pacific ocean, volcano) , food and crops like producing corn and coffee . This movie is narrated in Spanish but I had its Englush subtitle from Netflix. Otherwise, you just watch without learning . I liked the making of this movie.

Certainly eyecatching clips, with constant muzak. It views more like a commercial than a critical documentary. That said, it did sell its sales points to me; I would very much like to visit Guatemala as soon as possible. There is inspiration to take notice of here when making a travel plan.

Then, suddenly about a third into the film, starts a genuine description, still with constant mellow muzak, about the mayan people and culture. Quickly diversion back to the landscape and animal wildlife, all more or less in slow motion.

Having just watched Netflix' series Narcos: Mexico, I miss some political socioeconomic depiction of Guatemala as I am sure it cannot all be as sweet as depicted in this documentary.

Somebody got a drone and took a lot of really nice dramatic views of the YouTube. They got alot of really good shots and added some nice dramatic music anen added a deep voiced narrator to add credibility. Absolutely gorgeous country. You're a third of the way into your time before you learn about the people/culture. For me it was just too artsy which felt less honest. Lots of slow-mo and drone work trying to be fancy when just showing the people and the country was enough. I found this to be a tedious watch. I love documentaries but this was a struggle.

I think you can learn just as much watching a 20min clip of Best Ever Food Review Show on youtube and you will be more entertained.
