Maybe watch if you are bored...?

Bad acting, bad script...things feel forced and you can see some developments coming a mile away. Not interesting, I'm dropping after 1 episode. The first gossip girl was not peak tv but it was well made and entertaining, at least the first seasons. But this reboot is definitely not the same level.

Shame on this reebot

I think that for gossip girl original followers this reboot is a dull and boring copy. It's just another series about 2021 and basic drama and basic issues like any other series. Not as poetic and classy, just sexual and unoriginal. This is an offensive (in my opinion) reboot for the culture that gossip girl created years ago and that's still in our lives today.

Dull and uninspired

The OG isn't fantastic writing or anything but it had a great sense of what it was a trashy soapy drama. This one takes itself too seriously and then tack on the characters which don't have the same charm as Blair/Leighton, Dan/Penn and Chuck it makes for a very dull first episode.

Proof you don't need to remake/reboot everything for the sake of it.

Why

New gossip girl simply does not want to gossip? She simply takes orders and plays along with what the people want. Characters are bad and have no soul. It's a clear copy of Elite but in minors' version.

HBO needs to choose what they want, you either do a total kids' show or a 18+ one. They try to do both, threesomes and sexy plots with poor sex scenes and kids' conversarions.. everything is just bad overall why.

If you have nothing else to do

Not being a super fan, I did watch the original so it is hard not to make comparisons. So I will begin with that:

Original characters were more likeable (even the "mean" ones) and had more depth
Plot of the original much more interesting. E.g.: the secrecy of the GG made things a lot more engaging
Fashion also much better on first run
The new GG is creepy

All in all, the show by itself can be a meach passing your time if you have nothing at all to do.

Alternative Versionen
An edited version of the pilot was released on the CW as a way to promote the series. It cut out all of the more explicit sex scenes and references, as well as censoring the stronger swear words in order to meet the CW's TV-14 maximum rating limit. This edited version was also put on the CW streaming app, but the episode still remains in it's uncut form on HBO Max.
