BABA REVIEW :-
Relationships have always been major aspect and theme for regional and national Cinema. Whether it is Family, Friends, Partner, Society and even Alien films are made with the same theme. Baba, as expresses from the name is another film on Relationship theme but this is just not about Baba (Father). The son and his the bonding with Biological Mother and adoptive mother have similarly strong role in the film. A simple story flows from so many intentional hurdles but ends on a Predictable yet Emotionally gone well Point.
Baba revolves around a 8 years old kid Shankar (Aryan Meghji) who is living happily with his adoptive Father Madhav (Deepak Dobriyal) and Mother Anandi (Nandita Patkar) untill his Biological Mother Pallavi (Spruha Joshi) and her Husband Rajan (Abhijeet Khandkekar) arrives to acquire his legal Custody. Madhav and Anandi being Deaf and Mute since forever were unable to teach Shankar to speak. On the other side Pallavi being Rich enough should easily get his Custody for his bright future but as we all know the emotional bonding is something that is more important than Money. And other criteria is, Giving a birth to child is not enough, you have to be available everytime for everything that child need. Overall it's a Good looking story and the performances by Deepak Dobriyal, Aaryan, Meghji, Nandita Patkar along with rest of the cast takes it into the safe zone. Another USP here is the main 3 Characters are Mute and Deaf therefore Silence works better than Dialogues and that creates a great Cinematic Atmosphere around.
Baba has those all good points but it also includes some bad ones. One of the major thing is Repeatative ness in the screenplay. If all had to end like this then what was the motive of stretching other things uselessly? Music of the film is Average and a Songless Film would have been a Better option. Raj Gupta as a director seems to playing Safe on his debut. He crafted a Simple story in simple way without playing any puzzle or smart game. The maturity in the directorial skills is there but daring to handle the script with gutsy changes and intelligent attempts should be there by the Next Film.
As a whole, Baba is same old river of Family Values running through predictable ups and downs. We should be open to welcome the change in the main characters as they are not Regular Normal Persons but a Challenging Personalities with Physical Disorders. Bollywood Superstar Sanjay Dutt debuts in Marathi Cinema with a Decent Product or may be Average is the perfect word, we expect more next time. Baba defines the Title with its Climax while relationship & Emotions are already defined otherwise.
RATING- 5/10*

As the name suggests, the film is about a father but what makes it special is as its said that 'a child gives birth to a mother', the film here shows a beautiful bond between a child and his parents. A story about fatherhood, a supportive and caring mother and a little boy who speaks with his eyes.
I found this film to be innocent and pure.
The story is soulful. All the actors have done an amazing job and I must mention that director Raj Gupta has weaved this film beautifully. He proved that a film has no language barriers.
