The story is a love triangle where two women desire one man. The second woman has no chance and does not even reveal her feelings to the man till the end.

Raakhee is a extremely rich woman who falls in love with her childhood friend Shashi Kapoor who also reciprocates her feelings. Rati Agnihotri also has feelings for him but keeps it to herself knowing the pairs love.

But Raakhee's jealous and insecure nature gets the better of the relationship and she drives herself to uncalled misery. The last scenes between Raakhee and Shashi are beautifully acted and picturised.

The whole cast performs well but you cannot expect a clearly middle aged pair to be taken as someone in 20s by the audience. Shashi had just done "Utsav" where he played a lecherous old man and Rakhee had played Amitabh's mother in "Shakti".

This is quite an ordinary Hindi film of the 1980s. Visually beautiful, emotional, tear-jerking, with good songs.

The story revolves around Arti (Raakhee) and Anu (Rati), two good friends, the latter being the former's secretary. Both fall for the same man (Shashi Kapoor), and that's how the story follows this conflict.

The highlights of the film are the two leading ladies who perform convincingly. This gives the film a new charm not warranted by the ordinary, flawed script. Raakhee plays a 30 plus woman who is widely known to be difficult to deal with, and this is realised when she forms her first relationship with the first man in her life. Her character is jealous, manipulative, domineering and even obsessed, and the actress displays all these features quite well. Rati's role is that of a beautiful, gentle, supportive and sacrificing woman, who is both vulnerable and strong. She plays her character effectively. Shashi Kapoor performs well as always, but disappears in a role that is not demanding nor particularly pivotal.

All in all, a nice, warm film with a tragic ending. Watch in your free-time when you feel bored and somewhat nostalgic for an old classic Hindi film.
