Thieves Like Us

This is the best British comedy in ages. Hidden away on BBC 3 im guessing not many people saw this but its a very funny show. It centers around 2 criminals called Ollie and Bex and their escapades. Bex is the brains and Ollie is the stupid one and DS Haynes is the cop always trying to catch them. Despite them being criminals they are both very likable characters, especially Ollie who comes out with some random stuff. Other characters come and go and add some funny situations but its Ollie and Bex who are the stars of the show im not going to say much more as i don't want to give away any plots but this is a very funny show and i recommend that you catch it YOU'LL LOVE IT

When I first saw the promotions with the tag "these are the guy Del and Rodney bought their stock from" I thought this was going to be another tired unoriginal comedy from the BBC. So i only tuned in to episode 2 because i couldn't find anything else and what I got was a very enjoyable often surprising laugh filled half hour. Since then I've watched the remaining 4 parts of the series enjoying everyone of them.

Tom Brooke as Bex is top quality as the main protagonist always planning the next job but never to busy to deal top draw sarcasm. As his foil Fraser Ayres (who you may remember from another BBC3 series "The Smoking Room") plays Ollie his often dim witted partner in crime (literally). Add to this a great ensemble cast of Girlfriends, a fence, Competitors and police detectives and it is a truly all round enjoyable show.

About 3 weeks ago my sky box decided to give up on me. My TV comes with digital TV but I am only able only to get BBC 1 – BBC4 and ITV 1 – ITV3. This sucks since with sky I get about 500 Channels but with digital I am able only to get about 10 (this is a review about thieves like us - PROMISE!!). Anyway I planned my Tuesday night with my 10 channels and between airport and Waking the Dead I had nothing to watch, but I came across a comedy called (yeah you guessed it!) thieves like these. If I had my sky Box on I would of usually missed this comedy - I didn't see it advertised or in the paper. I watched it and at the end of the episode I was delighted. I had found a comedy that had been missing in my life for so long. The acting is great and I'm sure that most of them will go on to do better things. The story line so far is clever, new, maybe a bit stupid but still down to earth.

I am afraid to say though that this may not get far UNLESS it is able to make it to BBC 2. If it does then I can see the producers doing 2-3 series. It's just a shame that the BBC is putting the good stuff on BBC 3 and 4, were people can easily miss what could be the next best thing.

I would recommend anyone that is into any sort of comedy to watch this; it's a very light hearted take on a petit criminal and his life. Him and his best friend have good intentions that usually ends up on the wrong side of the law to make that extra £.
