Something in the Clearing

This movie is a good spiritual-thriller.

The disturbing content will upset the contemporary-culture's blind-sided view about ritualistic child abuse. Yet, the movie ends with a hopeful perspective.

Although the movie is clear about its presentation of the Christian faith and the hope people have in Jesus Christ, it is still a movie for everyone to watch.

The movie asks people to look beyond their pleasant surroundings and to consider there might be ugly things happening in their own neighborhood.

Just wow ! This was a great movie with amazing actors and an even better story line. Here we are 17 years later and I'm still watching this movie daily. The quality of the production for the time it came out was excellent quality ! This should have been a movie of the year and I believe it still has the ability to be this. I would love to see some possible Oscar nominations for some of these actors including the World Famous Luke Goss or even the dog "Brady" I believe was its name. Definitely have the dog air bud a run for his money ! Please share this with your friends and loved ones !! Top Film of the century.

Saw the preview. It was weird, but I liked it. It was kind of 1950's. Dead Silence did the same kind of retro feel. I like older films- The Bad Seed.

I particularly liked that the name of God had power (unlike most exorcist scenes). It was 'spooky' in a fun way... not a 'Saw' or "Hills Have Eyes" a bloody gory mess. It is the kind of movie you could watch, jump once in a while, and then not have night terrors about.

It took a couple of minutes to move at first but it ended well.

Luke Goss is awesome. The Auntie was very strange...she played the role well. The father figure was a weak character so I can see why men wouldn't like him. Identifying with him would expose their own vulnerability.

This movie was a one-of-a-kind. Has a blend of horror, drama as well as Christian message. Was a little hard to follow at first but about 1/3 into the film I found my self engaged in the interaction and being quite entertained. Not sure I have seen a film with this mix but it seem to work well. Got to admit it's strange to be laughing at some of the scenes while such a serious strong subject matter is being played out. After seeing Luke Goss in this movie and then "One Night With The King" looks like Something In The Clearing has lined Itself up to be a film that will not only turn heads, but should be around for a long time. I was also impressed with the child actors in this film. Good job Narrow Gate Productions.

The story was good. The use of flashback scenes in character development really enhanced the characters and their motivation.

The scenes between the uncle and the little boy were disturbing to the core of my soul. My stomach twisted when the little boy said "do you want to see my underwear?" to Luke Goss's character.

The scene between the aunt and the wife/mother was probably the most uncomfortable thing I have ever seen in film.

The movie has some very dramatic and compelling scenes. The beginning was a little slow with all the character back stories. But definitely worth watching.
