Teisikud, a 1982 musical comedy directed by Leo Karpin, is a quirky Soviet-era TV film that attempts to blend pop culture stardom with light hearted mistaken identity. Featuring the beloved Jaak Joala in dual roles-as the pop star Toomas Aring and rally driver Mati Uibo-the film spins a tale of confusion, charm, and romance through the eyes of journalist Tiina Salum, who believes the two men are one and the same.
Set against the backdrop of the Baltic States and filled with Soviet-era rally sequences, the film showcases Joala's musical talents, with the majority of the soundtrack performed in Russian. Joala's band Radar provides the musical backbone, contributing to the film's electro-pop flair, though some of the music-especially the folk-style songs-clash with Radar's usual sound.
While Joala's acting is not the film's strongest asset, his musical performances shine, making up for narrative and stylistic shortcomings. The humour is simple, sometimes bordering on naïve, but fans of Jaak Joala will find nostalgic value in his screen presence and soundtrack contributions.
Ultimately, Teisikud is a peculiar yet charming time capsule from the golden age of Soviet pop, aimed at Joala's massive Russian-speaking fan base. Its reception was mixed, yet it remains a fascinating cultural artifact for those who remember Joala as the superstar he was.

done in 1982 when Jaak Joala was a superstar as a musician in Soviet Union. So 90% of the music is in Russian. Good story lots of pop music by Joala and a great movie. Acting on a part of Joala is a bit week but well music makes up the little mistakes. During the film that circles around Baltic states while Joala's racing character Mati is racing you can see how did racing was in Soviet Union during the 80's.
Jaak Joala's band "Radar" is also the band who supports Joala's other character Toomas in the films musical appearances. For modern people a little bit strange sounds of 80's golden era music style Elektro pop so enjoy
