Several actors or performers have been officially banned for life from ever appearing on the show again, mostly due to obscene or offensive performances. This list includes Frank Zappa, Elvis Costello, Rage Against The Machine, Fear, Martin Lawrence, and Adrien Brody, with only Costello having been invited by Lorne Michaels to return (and doing so in 1989). Chevy Chase has been wrongly stated as banned for life after he behaved horribly during a return as host; he will never be allowed to host again but has made several guest appearances since then, including Saturday Night Live: 40th Anniversary Special (2015).
