Marilyn is just herself and this is enough to put the episode plot in motion! She decides to go for a vacation in Seattle. It it the first time she's going to leave Alaska. "I just want an adventure", she says to Fleischman who produces never ending advice on how-to-survive-in-the-city.
At the same time Holling starts to go to school with a group of children, to finish high school. He encounters some hardships, but fortunately, Shelly is always there, with her usual beauty contest related advice.
Expect many funny dialogues in this episode: Fleischman vs Ed, Fleischman vs Maurice Minniefield, Fleischman vs Marilyn and Fleischman trying to describe Marilyn to another person.

The title of this review says it all. A good many of our problems come about because people can't mind their own businesses. It starts with Marilyn getting an investment check and deciding to go on an adventure. She chooses Seattle. Once Fleischman gets wind of this, he can't leave her alone. Not only does he treat her like a child when it comes to travel, he plots out an itinerary, including a driver to pick her up and reservations at a hotel. All of which she ignores. After all, it is Marilyn.
In the other plot development, Holling enrolls in a GED program to finally get his high school diploma. This is a wonderful part of the plot. Where the mind your own business thing comes in is when Maggie realizes that the teacher, who has military experience, doesn't buy into her sisterhood thing and they come to words. Maggie's smugness and demeaning response to her is sickening. What she says is that because she is a woman, she should think like Maggie. It is none of her business!
Joel's over the top search for Ms. Whirlwind is delightful, if not pretty unbelievable. But then again, this is Northern Exposure.

- WissenswertesJo Anderson played both Jane Harris in this episode and Roslyn in the Cicely episode.
- PatzerWhen Maggie and Jane Harris are talking about female fighter pilots, Jane, herself a former military aerial tanker pilot, says that "women shouldn't be allowed to have their finger on the trigger of a Tomahawk." Tomahawks are large cruise missiles that are deployed from submarines and surface warfare ships, not aircraft. While the missile can be launched from the air, the BGM-109G Gryphon nuclear and AGM-129A missiles were at one time carried by large U.S. Air Force bombers, Tomahawks were never carried on fighters. A military pilot would not confuse a large Tomahawk missile with a Sidewinder or Sparrow missile, the types of which are carried on fighters.
