The Frenchies Are Coming

Pearl has installed a loud alarm system in the house to keep Howard in. It needs Entwistle's technical knowledge to help Howard escape.

Billy Hardcastle makes an early preparation to prepare for Brexit to keep out the French. He recruits some merry men for his new archery club. Trouble is he needs several people to keep an eye on Tom, the new treasurer.

Barry is looking for a new hobby as Glenda wants him to give up golf. It seems the bow and arrow might be his thing.

This was actually a better episode. Clegg and Truly doing the tango to distract Pearl. A target rolling past the two policemen's car as they discuss modern policing parlance.

Trapped.

Pearl has gone to extreme measures to keep Howard at home, she's installed an alarm system. Billy sets up an archery class, so that they're all prepared for when The Frenchies arrive.

It's a decent episode, it's not one of the funniest, but it does have a few decent sequences, they contrive a way to make Entwistle a central part of the story, and fortunately he would become a regular cast member, what's happened to Brian Murphy though?

The opening sequences of Howard trying to beat the alarm system are funny, and the story of the snare are very funny, I chuckled at the thought of Pearl having an immobiliser, definitely the best part here. Howard again, the funniest aspect.

Amusing scenes in the charity shop, Nora and Ivy are like a pair of angry terriers. Trevor Bannister was appearing sporadically, it would be some time before he'd become a regular.

Amusing, 6/10.

Truly: I know the stairs are slower, Howard, but um...
Howard: I was trying to attract your attention.
Clegg: Oh, well you did that, you got our attention all right.
Howard: I must have leaned out a bit too far.
Truly: Bit eh. I think I'd be inclined to describe it as a lot too far.
Clegg: [chuckles] Oh. Can I get you anything? perhaps a brain transplant.
Howard: No, she never went off.
Truly: What never went off?
Howard: The alarm. Pearl's had an alarm installed. It's terrible.
Truly: What's terrible about an alarm? It's a wise precaution against intruders.
Howard: Tha's not what this is for. She's got it fixed so it goes off when I sneak out.
Clegg: That is tricky. That's the crown jewels *and you* safe from being tampered with.
Howard: I feel trapped.
Truly: What do you mean, trapped? You've just beaten it.
Howard: Well, I can't be leaving that way all the time.
