Well. What can I say. Same format. OK different hosts!!. Really really need to revamp. Watched it religiously over the years and thourely enjoyed it - but getting a bit stale now. Actually switched over due to being bored.
REVAMP OR SCRAP.
Just one thing Jane And Christopher are legends. Don't let them be dragged down by the show that is now getting stale.
We looked forward to the show after strictly. It was a Sunday night highlight. Not any more. Its that's there is nothing else on so let's watch. We both end up playing on our phones. Sorry. Revamp show, spice it up or scrap. Same format, same show, same outcome. BORED.

Dancing on ice when it started was something a bit different. Two legendary Olympic skaters in Torvil and Dean training celebs to ice skate made for an interesting premise.
Now however after seven series you can't help but thinking this premise has run it's course. The celebs are getting more and more Z-list by the minute and all the tricks have been seen before. Even the changes to the judging panel haven't really boosted things. The first few series were entertaining because everything was fresh and new but now the rot has set in a little bit and unless ITV do something major to ramp up the interest or pay big money to get big name stars I can see the shows popularity waning further.

This show died ( deservedly so). Why it was brought back is beyond me. Bubble gum for the brain. Inane in the extreme, but since the demise of PS, it has now (hopefully) once again started to circle the plug hole of doom.
Clearly ITV look at successful BBC shows, and then after a bit of think, tend to always come up with a variant that is much much worse than the BBC original, but has a much needed twist to dumb it down for a less demanding audience.
Even the introduction of a less than capable Blackpool magician co-host neither diminishes nor improves a programme that is now so awful, so lacking in any redeeming features that ITV need to pull the plug asap.
It's astonishing to think that a bunch of Z list "celebrities" wobbling around on ice skates is considered entertainment. Depressingly awful.
Please ITV, put this moronic rubbish out of its misery...,but this time, bury it properly (and permanently).

In a sea of reality shows that I don't touch with a barge pole, this offering seems to be just another - the celebrities, the judges, the voting. All the same really.
However a main difference for me was that I wanted to watch it. Every week, for the whole three series, I have watched religiously, replaying the truly amazing routines and even now I am returning from the live tour 2008 having had a wonderful time last year at their first run! But why doesn't the x-factor catch my attention like this show? Why am I not running down to see Strictly Come Dancing? Why Dancing on Ice? Amongst the many reasons this show is so good (mainly the professionalism of the whole production) I personally acknowledge Torvill and Dean. Two of the UKs best skaters, who make the act of sliding on a sharp blade look like a walk in the park, their routines are mesmerising. Their attitude towards all the stars are of doting parents, supporting them every step of the way. They are the backbone of this programme and THE most professional and talented people I have seen in years. It's inspiring.
The team of professional skaters they have assembled and the coaches (inc. Karen Barber) are fantastic. Their goal is simple - to prove that anyone can skate and they are going to teach them.
You truly believe at the end of the well choreographed series the true prize is not the trophy - it's learning this amazing skill. I hope I can too!

I saw it as show especially for fans of ice skating. Provocative, no doubts, seductive, interesting for emotions, costumes, jury decisions. But the format is only nuanced by other TV shows, the presence of stars has only the role for high level of audience, the judgment seems , in few occasions, profound subjective.
Short, a TV show. Like so many others.
