The Last Days of Jonathan Perlo

This movie was so riveting. A good look at Real People in Real America. Great Job! I think this movie made people realize that everyone, big and small, has a story. Everyone means something to someone and people need people to live. Scott Plank found a true friend in Jonathan, a father figure. They had their differences- but they needed each other. They thrived off each other. The director and editor must have really spent some quality time with the footage. They picked some real gems out of millions of gems I am sure. I bet there must be tons of footage of Jonathan Perlo and his stories. I only wish I could hear them some day. That team that put this together really knew what they were doing. Again- Great Job!!

I had the opportunity to screen "The Last Days of Jonathan Perlo," a short documentary, at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. I thought it was awesome, a true testament to the lives of Scott Plank and Jonathn Perlo. The film was emotionally moving, dark and somehow, still uplifting. it's obvious that Scott and Jonathan both care very deeply for each other. I wish the filmmakers had delved deeper into Jonathan's criminal history, I thought it was a little confusing at times.

Not knowing a lot about Scott PLank, I was shocked by the ending of the film. I won't tell you what happens but it is emotionally wrenching. I can't wait to see this picture of Sundance film Channel so that I can take it all in again.

This is a great choice and a testament to Sundance and what the festival is here for, to promote independent films which are made by independent filmmakers.
