Sonic & Tails 2

Sonic Triple Trouble is a neat game that I consider one of the Game Gear's best titles. In this game, which is named Sonic & Tails 2 in Japan (making it a sequel to the original Sonic & Tails, which is known in the States as Sonic Chaos), players get to play as either Sonic or Tails as they go through six zones, each containing three acts. Each character has his own abilities (Tails can fly while Sonic has the Strike Dash) as well as power-ups unique to them (Sonic can get a snowboard in the Robotnik Winter Zone, while Tails can pilot a submarine, the Sea Fox, in the Tidal Plant Zone).

The aim of the game is to collect the six chaos emeralds, and in this game, both characters can collect them (where Sonic Chaos had it to where only Sonic could). Collecting fifty rings and finding a Chaos Emerald monitor hidden in the stage, players can enter Special Stages, which come in two varities: a side scrolling maze where the aim is to get to the end before time expires, and a ring collecting stage where your character flies a biplane and has to collect a certain amount of rings. There are five Special Stages giving the first five Emeralds, guarded by Nack The Weasel, with the ones after the first requiring to defeat him in a boss fight, as the sixth is held by Dr. Robotnik himself, and is gotten by beating the game. Also, Knuckles and Metal Sonic appear as bosses.

It is a neat platformer. The only real problem I had is the physics, causing the characters to take a while to stop, and some of the power ups tend to have sluggish controls.

Ah yes, Sonic Triple Trouble, the sequel to Sonic Chaos. This game is just as good as the original! Knuckles is in the game, the levels are more creative, and you actually feel like you're playing a platformer unlike the first game, which went super fast.
