What Ever Happened to Alice

I read the description for this film and thought it sounded really great! Unfortunately I am one of those people who will sit through the whole of a film just in case it does take a turn for the better and I don't miss out! All I missed out on was watching a film with more than 3 characters, more than 3 locations and a proper storyline in which you fall in love with the characters! This was not my cup of tea, it was slow, dull and the 2 characters that the story was based around were those that you would hope to be captured by jigsaw in the saw movies! If you want to watch a thriller do not watch this, it is more of a psychological film!

I just watched this movie and was fascinated by it. Finally a movie with an interesting story. The actress who plays Alice is wonderful in it. Women can sure connect with this film. My roommate has watched it many times since buying it. I liked the ending a lot too.It set in a desert and is like set in a time warp from a past. The story has the lead, Alice, as a psychopath who can't seem to find peace because of her killings of people. She's a ghost in this old house. It's not blood-gushing horror. It's frightening in a different way, like older horror movies that work psychologically. I liked the little girl in the movie too.She's very moving too. It's a good movie. Nikki

Interesting that the previous two reviews are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Goes to show that people's expectations can differ greatly. Linda Larson's multiple involvement as writer, producer, director and star may well have been slightly overambitious although her own role as Alice is certainly the meatiest - and most professionally acted part. Unfortunately the rest of the cast seem amateurish in comparison. The role of Rebecca(played by Nancy Lincors)for such a major part seems particularly weak, lacking the emotional commitment to engage our empathy. At times the dialogue becomes risible and the overuse of flashbacks confuses. Despite this,the coherent scenes produce a psychological drama whose violence is mostly sensory rather than seen. The overall product lacks the editorship required to make it anything more than a fair first attempt.Of the two previous reviewers,I sensed that the happier one was looking for a haunting ghostly tense tale. The other, if buying the same DVD as I did, would be disappointed as the cover illustration of an axe-wielding skeletal Alice certainly hinted at a more violent, gory and less voluble film.

I am one of those film fans that actively seeks out bad movies & having seen the trailer for this I couldn't resist. Thankfully I found a cheap copy online. Cool cover artwork & the picture is letterboxed, but sadly these are the only two positive things that I can say about this dross. Bad acting, a very confusing plot which soon outstays it's welcome, the film is mainly boring dialogue between just a few characters, most of which takes place in a single green room. Poor production values (shadows of crew & equipment are visible). One character, played by Nancy Lincors, talks about having a baby, but she looks at least 50. To sit through the film's 95 minutes running time is a true test of endurance & not one that I could recommend. I have seen thousands of movies but this is, without doubt, one of the worst.
