This great film is the story of the circle through which we, at Balkans, have been going for the last decade, and which we wanted to close. Besides a love story, this film is also the tale of the curse of the clash between fathers and sons, the story of the madness in the Balkans. When everything is over, numerous victims will remain, new borders... statistical data and cruel facts. A View From the Eiffel Tower tells of some small emotional things that we should never forget. Besides making war, during these ten years, we have also made love, felt pain, fear and separation. Our film is a story about hope. Through re-examination, the film shows what we are today. Because the circle is not yet closed – whoever doesn't remember, re-lives!

This is a debut feature from Nikola vukcevic, one of the best known Montenegrian director, and it's one kick-ass piece of work. Imagine a Balkan AmelyPulen+Tarantino+Aronofsky, but with even more wit and intelligence than the original one. The basic story line goes something like this: When Marijana was 16 – her father's boss sexually used her. Marijana's father did not do anything against his boss. After that, father became famous as discreet gynaecologist for illegal abortions. Ten years after, Marijana is prostituting with father's colleagues, harming his reputation (her father cares so much about). At one moment – Marijana meet sculptor, Vanja (poor and talented artist from the suburbs – that will open before her the world of love and trust). But, the world of Vanja and world of prostituting revenge – can not live at same moment! This film, with its characters and the plot, tells about hard Balkan times in which everything can be sold, about the disturbed system of values which characterizes everyday life in the Balkans; at the same time it tells about love that proves to be the only way out from the Balkan mud and wretchedness. Similar thing happened in Yugoslavia, where the people who seemingly lived well together turned to violence as soon as the communist grip was loose. In any case, I don't want to reveal any more twists and turns of this roller-coaster thriller, except that I also enjoyed the film's cool, ethnic-tinged soundtrack. I have no idea whether "Eiffel" found any distributors in the UK or States because I saw it at Toronto, some Balkan film festival, but I really wish it did because this movie is superior even by Western standards. Even though it's in Serbian+Croiatian+Montenegrian language, with the right promotion it would definitely appeal to a lot of people, for it is a REALLY-REALLY excellent work. Beg, borrow and steal to see this movie! It's that good.

I have never read "A GIRL FROM ZAGREB", novel that this film is in basic, but I can tell you that this is one of the best Balkan movies I have ever seen. Let me clear something up right away. Marija Vickovic is absolutely stunning and plays her role perfectly. Rudek has a nice, powerful role, he's awesome in this movie. Bane Trifunovic was hauntingly superb in this movie, you'll see what i mean.

The movie was breathtakingly shot (Nikola Sekeric). The cinematography was better then even the recent Balkan films. The movie gives you a feeling of awe and mystery because of it's settings. No cheesy lines; yes there are heartfelt beautiful lines, but none cheesy or over-emotional or over the top dialog. The writing and actors clicked perfectly. Need I say the story was both interesting and intriguing. It may be loosely based or not, but it was GREAT. The directing pulled everything together and added some nice tricks to make this movie a modern/classic (director Nikola Vukcevic). And the way music was used to intensify this movie (Vlado Moric) and when and where it was used was absolutely brilliant, and i suppose this is the director's and compositor's job, WELL DONE. The music was almost as important as the acting in this movie. The musical score for this movie is one of the best I have ever encountered (Moric, Sergey and Negative Band). It makes this movie move you. And just as good are the music (songs) the movie uses, how and when they are used. This is one of the few movies that thrives on sound (music) to help create it's mood, power and emotion and it is done masterfully.

This movie is beautiful on the eyes, ears, heart, and mind. I feel sorry for you if you don't ever get to experience this movie, it is a MUST see.

This movie shocked me with its passion and general sense of beauty. As a long-time Yugo-movie-hater, I was surprised that I was even compelled to see this movie. I was very glad that I did, and have seen it many times now. Great date movie. And it was the best romantic movie i ever saw. however i don't like romantics, but this touched my heart. the scene when the Vanja's mother is dying, and the scene when Mariana is speaking with her father, telling that she is pregnant!!!. It is very passionated! And what about the kiss at the rain? Because of the movie, I read the book. It is great, too. A true story, a really good one. And Darko Rundek had a role in it, his role was very important too. It's like you don't know with who are you dealing. Maybe this will change your life?!

I really love this movie. Looking for love with different eyes. This movie was stunning. Yugoslav films are usually seen as so difficult to grasp and inaccessible, but this managed to hold everything together. People laughed and people cried. It was beautiful. The film cuts back and forth like a knife .... The film is heavy on symbolize ... Respect for it! Maria symbolizes everything that is on the speed gained, while Vanja - a chance for our better tomorrow. I watched this movie twice and I'm glad that came in Montenegro, as a completely different and better than anything I have ever seen. This film had to deal with issues like loss of love, meaning in life, neurotic relationships among individuals. I believe that doctors in Montenegro are in a problem after this movie. It deserves, and problems. Each cast for the film, I enjoyed!
