    what the F***

After the disappointment of part 1 it was time to correct the failures made. Indeed, there is more blood involved than the first part and it even gets a bit weird by pulling out a fetus from the womb while fisting a girl. Yes, you read it right, gore galore but but, there is something really wrong with it. There is of course some nudity involved but again, Eastern culture knowing it is forbidden to show private parts so we only see a man cum on a girls face and we see some suggesting that a man is putting his fingers and later his fist into a girls vagina with the well known result. So far so good. The movie clocks in 13 minutes longer than part 1, but it's more blah blah so they could have cut it there. But the let down is the part when we get to know who one of the girls really is. Sadly that isn't really realistic. To conclude, rougher than part one put a stupid plot.

    Piece of trash

How anyone tries to justify the enjoyment in watching a film like this is beyond my realm of comprehension.

It's just an exercise in showing how much visual degradation it takes to make a video for the depraved. It's not a horror movie,, it's not even a thriller . There is no fun to be had here, only senseless acts thrown together.

The only reason I saw it was that I ran across this bit of dribble at a horror-movie website . It just gives horror movies a bad name.

While the producers have every right to film such a piece of crap ( I oppose censorship).., I have every right to call it what it is.. degrading trash. And I'm so glad I'm in the majority of those who feel the same.

    A shamelessly gratuitous shock-fest

After Red Room 1, the director clearly thought that he hadn't repulsed enough people or gone over the line enough. There were still boundaries to be tampered with and unchartered taboos to explore.

Cue Red Room 2, a rather sick experiment in just how far cinema can go before losing all of its artistic merit and becoming purely an experiment in how thoroughly we can sicken ourselves. Unfortunately all our 'loved' characters bar one from the last installment are next to dead, so we're now presented with four fresh hopefuls.

The drill is exactly the same as the last film - four contenders sit in a room and draw cards. The outcome of the draws decides who will receive a certain 'punishment' as part of the game, who will administer it, who will just watch, and who will decide what it is. The one left alive at the end of all the rounds wins the game. The punishments themselves are all the more intense and immoral than in Red Room 1, involving toothbrushes, hammers, a bowl of vomit [which looks too much like porridge] and one particular scene involving a pregnant girl which is totally over the mark.

The only problem with this film is that it tries so hard to shock its audience that it's very easy to see it for exactly what it is, an exercise in violence and bad taste, so labeling it as 'horror' is giving it too much credit. As well as this, the budget is so obviously low and the effects so unconvincing that we are more sickened by the concepts of the actions taking place than by their physical representations, which at times are laughably fake. Still, the only reason anyone would watch this film is out of some form of twisted curiosity. It nevertheless succeeds in what it sets out to do - to thoughtlessly repulse and to sicken - making it a totally shallow and merit less piece of filming, although it doesn't pretend to be anything else.

Red Room 2 - well worth a look inside...

Four people introduce themselves to camera then participate in a game-to-the-death for a large sum of prize money. It all takes place in a couple of small rooms (one of which is Red!) and there is much dialogue and characterisation over action. The entire effort is short and none-too-subtle, but well played with conviction by all involved. Obviously it would seem that budget was limited on "Red Room 2", so some of the effects do look a little low-tech, shall we say (if you watch, you'll know just when I mean!) That being said, my attention was held completely from start to finish and felt that ultimately the film was well worth the time spent watching (and now writing about it!) One thing I should mention, by way of explanation to some of the levels of gratuity contained in "Red Room 2", is that recently I subjected myself to possibly the ultimate in gratuitous shock-fest "cinema", having watched something called "August Underground's Mordum" (which I wholeheartedly do NOT recommend). I mention this in order to explain that after having watched (or perhaps words like "suffered", or "endured" may be more appropriate) the aforementioned effort, absolutely anything that can (and was) presented in "Red Room 2" seemed really rather laughable by comparison. The difference in the two films being that "Red Room 2" was a well -made, -scripted and -acted work of (admittedly bizarre) entertainment; whilst "AUM" was just utterly repugnant imagery for the sake of it, without merit and void of value. Yes, "Red Room 2" is indeed gratuitous, as described in an earlier posting here, but after one's initial revulsion at the scenarios the contestants herein find themselves, it actually becomes strangely engrossing. It also helps that being a relatively low-budget production in appearance (which can be a good thing, in my humble opinion), the viewer's repulsion obtained by any of the film's shock "effects" is soon replaced by mild amusement - well it was with me! All of that being said, I found the film very engrossing and well worth the effort. You could see what the makers were trying to express, and yes, it is something a frequent film-goer will have seen before - namely just what are the extremes TV programmers will go to in order to obtain a rating, and simultaneously, just what level of degradation will any participants stoop to in order to win. Also, it all begs the query of the viewer - how much depravity and humiliation will you watch in the name of entertainment? Again, not subject matter we haven't seen presented previously, especially in the super-dark humorous style of "Series 7: Contenders" (highly recommended, by the way), but nonetheless interesting and engrossing (if you can forgive the cheapish effects!) Now, if only Endemol or Channel 4 could get the layabouts in the Big Brother house to indulge in this form of extreme gamery, then at least that programme wouldn't be so devoid of any value, and the wanna-be housemates would know what it's like to really EARN their prize!! THAT - I would watch... meanwhile, give "Red Room 2" a spin!

Absolutely nasty and extreme Japanese shocker.

"Red Room 2" is a continuation of the same theme from "Red Room" albeit with new players.Again there are some truly twisted scenes of sadism, gore and sexual violence for example a guy gets his nasal passages scrubbed with a toothbrush for minutes on end until blood erupts everywhere or in a truly repulsive scene a guy who is fisting one of the females in the cage feels something inside her.He grabs hold and pulls with all his strength, wrenching a three inch long fetus and yards of umbilical chord! So if you liked "Red Room" you won't be disappointed with this piece of nihilism.I still think that Daisuke Yamanouchi's "Mu Zan E" is a much better film.Give it a look as well.
