This movie has been made particularly to Encash Jeetendra those days Jeetendra were in much demand & almost all his movies gets success. Amrish Puri has a Hench man role of Jeevan. Jeevan was not in demand those days & his carer almost finished, Rajesh Khanna has given only 2 hits Souten & Avtaar after a very long time. As the script demand Rajesh as an older brother Jeetu as younger brother played their role respectively, Rajesh Khanna never looked handsome & smart in front of Jeetendra & he has a inferior complex for Jeetu evergreen image, Actually both were friends before coming to Bollywood, If you see the graph of Rajesh Khanna carer, He was in peak for only 4 years from 1969 to 1973 but the same period Jeetendra carer was not in swing, Jeetendra is always giving hits almost from 1965 to 1988 It is the record for him in 1980, 11 films were released & 7 films were declared hits, till date no other actor has given 7 hits in a single year, It is a record that till date no other actor break. that's why he is considered real evergreen actor of Bollywood. when his films getting flops in 1990's he himself retired. not like others. He acted with almost all his Co-Stars with no complex. Nishan is one of the few multi-star movies which Rajesh Khanna did. Rajesh Khanna told in an interview that he always did movies of different genres - adventure, political satire, comedy,melodrama, social, action, family movies, character with negative shade etc.. so he accepted movies of formula films in between just to unwind himself from the serious films. Nishan is a film with plot of long lost brothers uniting at the end of the film. Kishore Kumar sings all the 3 songs picturized on Khanna and the film was Superhit at the box office. Rajesh Khanna has rarely done movies which are having low class Hindi dialog like in most of Amitabh's trademark multi star movies like Nastik, Insaniyat, Coolie,Mard or Mithun Govinda Anil Kapoor type (mouthing cheap street Hindi vocabulary & plot being miserable life) and this film and Dharam Kanta are the multi-star formula movies where we get to see Rajesh Khanna doing such films(both with childhood friend Jeetendra).

Rajesh Khanna and Jeetendra are playing lost brothers and take revenge from Amrish Puri, Jeevan. It is an old plot which was re-used with the help of Super Star Rajesh Khanna and Jumping Jack Jeetendra. Both put in their bits to keep the movie running and hold the audiences till the end. It has excellent music by Rajesh Roshan. Kishore Kumar has lent his voice and the songs are still remembered. The only issue is an old repeated plot and a slow speed of the movie. The editing could have been crisp and emotional scenes could have been cut and may be comedy could have been kept. Rekha and Poonam Dhillon have nothing much to do. It is a must see for Rajesh Khanna fans as to how he takes on Jeetendra in the movie.

Basheer's views are totally false. Jeetendra was nowhere near rajesh khanna as a star & as an actor. He was always a B grade star. He mostly did only multi starrer films. Many of his solo films were flops. He got a 2nd lease of life in the 80s thanks to padmalaya studios. Even those films became hits only because his heroines were either sridevi & jayapradha.

In Nishan, jeetendra is again outshone by rajesh khanna's presence & expectedly plays second fiddle. There are 3 songs sung by kishore for kaka which are melodious. Also, kaka does action in this film proving that he can also be an action star, when needed.

The film was a success at the box office.
