'Playmates in Bed' is a first class production from Playboy with a bevy of lovely vintage Playmates, but the majority of it's scenes aren't very hot. Per the title the emphasis is on beds which is a staple for getting naked, posing or having sex. Has good moments, but it's also not the killer title I thought it was going to be. A lengthy intro, narrator, ladies scripted talk in between scenes. Story seems more important than the nudity.
The first scene "Movers and Shakers" is a good example of what's going wrong here. The playful Playmates (Michele Rogers, Jami Farrell, Nicole Narain) have their stuff moved into an apartment by a father and son duo. It's got a vibe right at home with Playboy down to the light and whimsical music, but first two minutes go into setting it up. I'm not a big fan of what I consider to be time wasted. You do get a nice shot of Michele getting naked starting with jean cutoffs coming off followed by Jami topless at this point. Then they go onto teasing, turning on the young son and each have a brief but nice solo strip, but so much wasted potential here (7.5 mins).
"Soft as a Feather" is your lite girl/girl with ladies (Christi Shake, Serria Tawan) in bed. They strip off tops, panties and both look great as they lightly caress, grab each other. Both launch into bed and their boobs bounce like crazy upon impact (especially Christi). The requisite solos are here and they get into a pillow fight briefly as the feathers fly. It's a good scene that could have been great (4 mins). "Breakfast in Bed" has a maid (Lindsey Vuolo) bring it to lady (Stephanie Heinrich). Luckily this includes dropping Stephanie's top and licking the jam that fell onto her boob. Now both go naked and a sponge bath goes down with enjoyable closeups and the wet look is always a hot one (6 mins).
"Sleeping in Style" has the narrator spells things out - circular bed, silk pyjamas. Three women (Lindsey Vuolo, Lani Todd, Stephanie Heinrich) get down to nude quick as the bed rotates. There's some nice shots, but also many that miss the mark. Of course each lady gets shown off in closer detail solo as the best part before it's all over (4 mins). "Early to Bed" looks like it's gonna be a boy/girl, but it's a long setup (2 mins!) for a couple to strip for each other. The guy goes first and honestly why did I have to sit thru this (another 2 mins!!). The lady (Christi Shake) then has her turn, goes topless before back to the bed and the panties come off. A few closeups of Christi are great then joins him in a chair where he doesn't get to feel her up, but she has her boobs right in his face. Back to the bed has her on all fours thrashing around seductively for a moment and then she gives him the finger curl to come to bed and he rips off his underwear stripper-like (male ass shot, catch the sock guys wear over their junk in softcore for a sec) and joins her. Soooooo much wasted time (7.5 mins).
"Girls will be Girls" has four (Heather Carolin, Christi Shake, Nicole Narain, Sierra Tawan) in two sets of bunk beds. It plays up the ladies lightly playing around or a few solo closeups. It's pleasant but the level of eye candy is low considering there's four of them and they're naked 99% of the time (3.5 mins). "Daydreaming" finds a couple waking up in the morning as the narrator cheesily goes on about how men always find the time to look at Playboy magazine. When his lady exits, he gets his chance to pull out an issue and before you know he's stuck in a dream with Playmates (Heather Carolin, Lani Todd) as they get naked and mess around with him. I need to tell you it takes over two minutes to reach this part. Heather gets good coverage, but Lani steals the thunder in closeups that sees oil put over her boobs and you can't help but notice her completely shaved kitty. If this was real life why aren't you shagging your decent looking wife instead too (5.5 mins).
"Rooftop Rendezvous" is a boy/girl and once again takes too long to reach the "good stuff". A romantic setup with lights, candles and a bed. His lady (Deanna Brooks) and him start kissing, have a drink and she gets down to a see thru bra. My patience was really tested when it took another 1.5 mins to get our first topless shot. Then see thru panties get shown and removed in closeup which was nice and some fine shots of them with her body in front getting exposure. Some more closeups follow - her pierced belly button, boobs - but a nice shot of her butt gets blocked by the dudes hands. She ends up mounting him cowgirl, but at this point the scene is basically dead. Dismal wrap up (8 mins).
I've watched enough of these videos to know what I do and don't like. Everyone checks out titles like these for female nudity and hopefully lots of it shot well. I don't mind simple stories or setup for scenes, but it's gotta be brief and to the point. Everything within 'Playmates in Bed' looks great, but there's no getting past all the wasted time and a level of arousal that never kicks into high gear. Playboy missed the boat here though not for a lack of trying.
