Under his real name

I doubt that anyone who had a hand at producing this short subject ever thought it would be the debut of a screen legend. Glenn Ford then using his birth first name of Gwyllim is the master of ceremonies introducing long forgotten musical acts.

At the time Night In Manhattan was made Ford was a part of the Santa Monica Playhouse doing stock work and hoping for a big break in film. This turned out not to be it and his next time before the camera was in his first featre film Heaven With A Barbed Wire Fence two years later.

According to his biography by his son Peter, Glenn Ford really hated how he looked and thought he might have blown his chance for a film career.

Obviously it didn't work out that way.
