NBA live 98 flew very low under the radar and was not noticed by a majority of SNES and GEN players due to improvements of PC and PlayStation versions, and the disappointment of no improvements, only steps down to 97 compared to the great 96 version. This resulted in the desicion to not bother with 99 on the SNES or GEN and instead move to the next gen consoles.
