Yet another insane, yet at the same time amazing work by John K., although its brief, I can see why this is a tribute to William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.
A Day in the Life of Ranger Smith is a bizarre and twisted take on the usually wholesome Yogi Bear universe. John Kricfalusi's signature edgy, irreverent style breathes new life into these characters, turning the gentle park ranger and his companions into unsettling, almost surreal figures. The short's humor is dark and subversive, pushing boundaries that Hanna-Barbera's original shows would never dare approach.
It's no surprise this kind of daring reinterpretation ruffled feathers behind the scenes. Rumor has it that Joseph Barbera himself was so disturbed by John K's shorts - A Day in the Life of Ranger Smith and Boo Boo Runs Wild - that he allegedly wanted him dead. Whether true or not, the intensity of these shorts speaks to a clash of creative visions: the playful innocence of classic animation versus a raw, unfiltered artistic rebellion.
For fans of alternative animation and edgy humor, this short is a fascinating, if unsettling, watch. Just be prepared for a very different take on some beloved characters.

10/10 There are very few reasons to hate John K.'s makeovers on Yogi Bear. One reason is that it's a make over. But...it's John K.'s vision of Yogi, not HB. After repeated viewings, I have concured many opinions on it: boring; slow; intresting; hilarious. Out of all of those, I've been able to get interesting out more. No, this is not as good "Boo-Boo Runs Wild". Not by a long chalk. This one is more about about Ranger Smith's obsession with disipline, because, this is his life. Disipline. He wants disipline to those who don't abide park rules. If you look closley at the original episodes, this is his hidden personality.
