    Must Buy

One of my favorite Megaman games, and with good reason, too. This game has everything that fans can ask for: great graphics, nice music, beautiful stages, voice-acting, anime cinematic, cool bosses, and last but not least, the ability to play as Zero.

I feel that it's a tad bit unfair that X takes a backseat to Zero, but hey, that's the way that it goes. Zero has always been a mystery, and he still is. He even has his own series, and even then, we fans are left with more questions. I feel that Zero will always remain what he has been in the past: a mystery.

I prefer Zero's story because it tells the player more about him and the tragedy that is his life. I felt bad for him, actually, and I still do. Can he ever get a break? Apparently not.

Bottom line: This game is a must buy.

    Rockman X4

The Rockman franchise is one of the best franchises of platform-games, with numerous sequels, the blue boy has enjoyed a unique success and especially he has gained his own fandom. It is hard to believe that some kids play this game, that may happen but Rockman X4 is a gift for the loyal fans. At the time Rockman X4 was released Capcom was trying to adapt the Rockman world to 3D environments, but still they developed this sequel in a classic Rockman style with some visual improvements.

The game itself is moderately difficult, increases its difficulty after the first initial levels. These first levels offer the usual side-scrolling 2D world. Some ability with the buttons and patience will be necessary, because there will be some failures on the way while the right way of face all the Robots-bosses is found. Unless you are cheater and find a walk-trough via-Internet. X and Zero have some interesting new powers, and as usual they will gain another weapons while they beat the different mavericks.

Capcom made a big effort with X4, it has a nice storyline with amazing anime interludes, the storyline differs if the player chooses X or his buddy Zero, die-hard fans will try to beat the game with both characters. In a few words: A good and addictive game.

    Simply the best of X.

This game is a total masterpiece. I think it's the COMPLETE best of the X series. Zero has the best story line, which involves a BEAUTIFUL female reploid called "Iris" The Colonel talks funny with his british accent. And I highly recommend this to anyone that likes the X series, or any fan of any Capcom games.

Excellent, the best of the Megaman X on 2D

Megaman X,X 2 & X 3,are greatest games,i don't think that any game will beat X 3,but was wrong, because,Megaman X4 it's just the best of the Megaman X series, the option to fight as X or Zero, give you the best reason to beat the hard game more than only one time, the history is different depending wish character you select. The graphics find he's update. The music...¿how can i say? It's Megaman X,that means:the best about music. The story have too many moments that you can't lose. No matter how much times i finish this game,i don't lose that special sense, sense ho only this game have. You sure play a Megaman game, and you will be in deal with, that this is the best of the series. Just in the case that you don't play this game yet,you can play it on Megaman X Collection available on GameCube,XBOX,and Play Station 2.

Don't lose the game,it's really a master piece from Capcom.

The last great X game till stagnation hits...

If there was any platform game I've been following for pretty much it's entire existence, it's been the Mega Man series. Sure, it's pretty much the same deal over and over again, but something about it makes it that much more addicting. Capcom stepped the intensity up a couple more notches with the Mega Man X series for the Super NES, showing a much more mature side of Mega Man we hadn't seen before. Each sequel made the story line a bit thicker, incorporating more characters into the mix of the war between Mega Man X and the Mavericks, lead by the ever-venomous Sigma. With the departure of the Super NES, Capcom took the X series to the next stage with Mega Man X4 on the Sega Saturn and, a short while later, the Sony PS1, and this was easily the best X game of the series up to this point. Everything centers around a new rivalry between the Maverick Hunters and a group known as Repliforce, a plan for both which goes horribly awry. So it's up to either X or Zero to save the day. This is the first game to mark the ability to play as Zero, now wielding a new powerful saber (you can choose to play as him from the get-go for the entire game and bypass all the ridiculous choosing screen between the choosing screens in X5-8). Both X and Zero have their own personal storyline, though this series tends to lean a bit more towards Zero's (which is starting to grow on me; I'm sure, sadly, more people would be interested in Zero's side of things, having seen X's for three games). They both possess differing attacks and strategies (X's X-Buster and armors versus Zero's Z-Saber and various slash attacks), intertwining characters relevant to their stories, and a good deal of action in between. I even think X's effeminate voice fits much better than in Mega Man 8! (it's much better than his Japanese-boy-in-puberty moaning in X6 and whiny punk voice in X7). Plus, the use of anime-style cut-scenes gave the game a sleeker, more personal look; anyone can slap together a cut-scene in the game, but the animation gave it a stronger sense of drama. This was the best game to date until, three years later, Capcom continued to release more sequels to the series, much to my surprise and delight, to varying degrees of success; either a hollow shell of it's former glory (Mega Man X5), a rush job to appeal to the marketing of it's predecessor (Mega Man X6), or a debacle into 3D that sorta went wrong (Mega Man X7); though I say these things, I do enjoy those three titles very much. It's just that they were lacking quite a bit and had much to live up for after X4. Thankfully, Capcom once again got the recipe right and released Mega Man X8, which was easily the best since this game in question. If you haven't picked up or played this game, you are truly missing out and should be urged to check it out!

[after Zero forcibly defeats Iris. Iris is on the ground, injured]

      Zero: Iris! Iris...

      Iris: Zero...

      Zero: Hang in there, Iris!

Iris: Please... stay away from Repliforce. Let's live together in a world where only Reploids exist...

Zero: Iris, there is no world just for Reploids. It's only a fantasy.

Iris: Yes, I know. But I wanted to believe it. I wanted to live in a world where only Reploids exist. With you...

[Reaches up for Zero's hand. He grabs it]

      Zero: Iris...

      [Iris laughs, and then dies]

Zero: [shaking her desperately] Iris! Iris! Iris! Iris... Iris...

      [He screams]

Zero: No, this isn't happening! There's no reason for me to go on! What... WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOR?
