Strip Tease Murder

Enjoyable and entertaining crime thriller set to background of a strip tease club. Ok, the setting is used as an excuse in places for some risqué dance routines but the plot is tight and storyline is plausible. The wonderful Kenneth J Bruno (sadly died far too young) is great as the nasty hoodlum Branco. Peter Elliot steals the show as a brilliantly lunatic inventor-come hitman, Perkel.

Not a whodunit, as the crimes are all known but great watch to see how 'hero' Burt will bring perpetrators to justice (ably assisted by wonderful cast of characters from the club). The film is a bit edgy for its time and well worth a watch.

A bizarre little British crime film, set in the sleazy confinse of a low rent strip club. The plot involves a character with a grievance against one of the strippers who comes up with a way to boobytrap one of her costumes, but then of course the deaths continue and the police have to investigate to try to figure out what's going on and why. I found this a grubby little affair, poorly paced and without much going for it in the scheme of things. Unsurprisingly, a great deal of the running time is padded out with lengthy striptease sequences which add nothing more than the gentle titillation of yesteryear.

British crime-drama set in and around a strip joint in Soho (London's 'red light district'). Stripper Rita (Ann Lynn) is blackmailing her gangland boss and club owner Branco (popular B-movie bad guy actor of the time, Kenneth J Warren), threatening to go to the police about his dope-smuggling operation. Branco hires someone to kill Rita during one of her performances. Unfortunately, on the night in question Rita is replaced by another stripper, Diane, who dies instead. When the police believe Diane died from 'natural causes', Diane's husband Bert (John Hewer) decides to investigate and find the killer.

Although tame to look at now, there are several risque-for-the-time dance routines that end with the girls topless apart from tassels! 😲 Polish-born blonde bombshell Vanda Hudson (who appeared in several UK B films of the 1960s) was prominent in the marketing, although her character is a relatively minor one. At just over an hour long it moves at a fair pace, whilst the black and white filming helps with a general feeling of period sleaziness. A good end-of-the-day, easy watch that requires no thinking whatsoever. 6/10.
