In Australia he meets and falls in love with the daughter of a rich and powerful man(Suresh Oberoi). The story keeps the covers on Bobby Deols plan until the end when everything is revealed as to why he is a SOLDIER.

production of a 'Soldier' Bobby Deol

Abbas-Mustan's first combination with Bobby Deol proved a good result as the movie did quiet well in the box-office in 1998 as a musical thriller. Moreover this was the only movie which competed enough with another romantic blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (released one month earlier to Soldier) both in box-office and in musical score. This technically advanced movie changed the views and appetite of watching action movies in the Bollywood industry in many ways. The director duo know very well to use the hidden talent of Bobby Deol for action movies. Before this, his last hit was Gupt-The Hidden Truth that was released almost a year earlier. Soldier is basically a story about a boy taking revenge against the culprits who killed his father when he was small. He prepared himself well and step by step he fulfilled his desire to revenge the murderer of his father. The location and sceneries of Australia and New Zealand in the movie are highly aesthetic and worth watching. Lastly, Soldier showed that India also can produce such highly technically advanced movies with its own systems and processes.

Soldier the decade defining movie

Bobby's acting in this movie makes it a must watch and true masterpiece . If you liked The Dark knight, then I suggest this movie of the same genre to you folks. This movie does contain some of the career defining moments of one of the greatest superstar of the world ,our own Bobby.

Great romantic action thriller.

This is easily one of Bobby Deol's best performances,if not his best performance. This was actually Preity Zinta's first film, though Dil Se was released before this so that was her debut. She has given one of her best performances in this film too. The film is very cleverly made. After a lot of the key moments, there is a song. You can't even fast forward it because you want to be told what happens next and not tell yourself. The climax is brilliant, and you don't expect what happens in the end to happen. The music is great, though the best track has to be, you guessed it, 'Soldier Soldier...'. Another good thing is that you don't know what each character is up to, so some of the events are surprising. The screenplay is great and it has been edited very well. What more can I say? Watch it yourself.

Verdict: Unmissable. The films these days very straightforward in comparison; they should make more like this. I give it 9/10

One Of the Best Action Thrillers as U Know the King of Action and suspense films of the 90s the duo ABBAS Mustan Directed this movie .Whether Its The Acting Of main Lead BOBBY deol..The songs Are still Fresh ,The Cinematography and The role of Each and Every Character is Perfect and Well Suited ,Moreover Its a Hollywood Style Directed Movie and One Of the first films of Every kid of 90s Era..The Best💯

Those who know Bobby only coz of ANIMAL(2023) should've seen this long time back !!!!!!

The plot may seem dated. But the buildup was great, as expected from an Abbas-Mastan action film.

Just the previous year, the elder Deol sibling had delivered a patriotic mega-blockbuster in the form of a war epic named BORDER(1997). The younger Deol struck his own form of patriotism in the form of a suspense thriller which left audiences pondering till the last half hour where his allegiances lay. Well, they lay with India, and what better way than clearing the name of your ill fated Army officer father accused of treason.

Just one complaint, they shouldn't have dubbed Preity Zinta's voice.

[Camera shifts to Bobby Deol calculating the losses with Saxena screaming on the phone]
Baldev Sinha: Hey are you already dead or what ? Am I crazy speaking to nobody ? Just wait and watch what's in store for you. You'll dare stand in front of me and you'll lose your nerves once and for all.
Vicky: [Responding to Saxena] $ 35000 basic plus 100% tax. That's 70,000 rounded off.
Baldev Sinha: [Furious and confused] What round or square are you talking about ?
Vicky: [Responding to Saxena in a serious tone] That's the damage your son did to my house.
Baldev Sinha: [Mocking Deol] So you'll take money from me ?
Vicky: [In a stern voice] Not just money, it'll be in Australian Dollars. And take this call very seriously. I'll send you the bill at 1400 hrs. Collect the money at 1405 hrs. And leave by 1410. Transaction time would be 10 minutes. You have till then to arrange for the payment.
[Disconnects]
Jojo: Dad what's he saying ?
Baldev Sinha: [Taking Deol as a lightweight] He's gone insane. Says he'll send the bill at 1400 hrs, pickup the cash at 1405 and leave by 1410. Do I look like an idiot who'll budge to his demands ?
[Verma comically nods in agreement only to immediately disagree]
Baldev Sinha: In any case we've business to deal with, the new shipment is coming so are the customers.
