The Case of the River Morgue

A mortician is shocked when the body of a man, marked up as number seven vanishes from storage, he's further shocked, when it turns up again in storage number six, but is it the same person. Did the man die twice?

This is really intriguing and well imagined, a clever storyline, with a true sense of intrigue.

I love the snapshot of technology of the time, especially the underwater viewing equipment.

The continental flavour, and trip to France was a nice touch, though I hate to think of the expenses.

Can we just take a minute to admire the words of The Doctor, who discussed diabetics not being able to deal with carbohydrates in the normal way, a shame current Doctors don't seem to understand that fact, this dates back to 1956, it's simply astonishing.

A simple tale of whether body is dead or not, and the London sewers is here given an artistic twist, with some of the shots in the dark having a distinct echo of THE THIRD MAN. It's nice to see this twist, reminding us that B Pictures often have distinguished antecedents, if we are prepared to look for them.
