Feet of Flames

Don't compare it to Riverdance, because I did the first time and it made me dislike it. But anyway, the dancing is good. Didn't think much of the costumes. I think it would've been better if Michael Flatley hadn't been snogging and manhandling every female performer who came on stage and punching the air every five minutes. I loved him in Riverdance, but he's very full of himself in this one! You might as well watch it, because it has some good dances in it and a very nice music score! Oh, and if you don't like it when they edit things from the way they're meant to be, (like special effects) I warn you that they put quite a few things in slow motion. It ruins the dancing, I think. But each to their own.

Michael Flatley was awesome in Feet of Flames. Not only was his dancing spectacular, but his flute playing was exquisite.

I liked this updated version of Lord of the Dance much better than the original.

Although this show had twice the performers and twice the stage as Lord of the Dance, it didn't surpass it. Why? Not only because it's more of the same, but especially because it has no grip on you. It's an outside performance and the natural lighting hinders the artificial lighting effects. Also a major problem that comes with the fact that it's outside: the sound is bad. The music is too loud for the taps and the audience. The overall performance is great, you can see they have done it a lot and improved loads of stuff, but you can also see they don't have that.. radiating glow about them anymore, as they had on the opening night of Lord of the Dance. The conclusion is: as a single show, it's great, but as a turbo-version of Lord of the Dance and especially as DVD, it's not that super... go see LOTD instead. (But if you can see an indoor version of this show live, go see it. Now. Don't hestitate, go. Go!)

I watched Feet of Flames not long after watching Lord of the Dance, and I'd say at least half of Feet was a revised version of Lord - it had the Spirit, it had the Gypsy, it had the bad guys challenging Flatley for the title of Lord of the Dance. Granted, there were songs and such not found in Lord, which kept it from being a complete disappointment, but I expected more originality.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film Lord of the Dance when it was released. I later saw the live show in Oklahoma City, OK and enjoyed that presentation as well. I then had the opportunity to get the VHS tape of Michael Flatley: Feet of Flames. I noted that he used the same performers as in the original Lord of the Dance. It was also quite apparent that the overall performance of those same performers was substantially better than the original. The added numbers were a definite bonus to the film. I highly recommend Feet of Flames to anyone that likes musical shows.
