No alla violenza

I discovered this film while watching a "Death in Haiti" on a WVP (Greece) ex-rental some decades ago. When the movie ended, I noticed the manufakturer had recorded the film over a previously released film of theirs, so when "Death in Haiti" ended, suddenly comes the ending of "No alla violenza/ Death hunt" and this ending really caught my interest - as well as the ending credits music by Alberto Baldan Bembo. Some searching later I knew what film this was, tracked down a VWP original on Ebay and later also a swedish one. Given it is a very low budget film, it has very good acting and is surprisingly violent. A similar film would be "Violence for kicks", but this one is a lot better. Worth mentioning this is another Tano Cimarosa directed/acted film, and he doesn't disappoint, as goes for Al Cliver in one of my favorite roles. He even does his own stunts in this one. Cigar to the boutique bluray company who manages to secure and restore prints of this one and Tano Cimarosa's equally violent giallo "Reflections in black". Tano deserves a career spanning documentary as well, what a character he must have been! Sicily's own b-movie legend.

The real star of this very rare italian crime film is Messina and its harbour area. This is very low budget shot in the street by the same director as "reflections in Black".

its very brutal and also rather sleazy with several plots,not always connected,the principal one been a fathers revenge,played by the director, of his daughters killing.

Messinna looks really well as does the mountains of Calabri in the backround.

Out of 10 i would give it a six for its sheer jest in spite of no budget.

Tano Cimarosa directs, writes the script, and plays the part of Tano, a father whose daughter is fatally run over by a car driven by members of a criminal gang.

Tano then goes on a mission to track down and ice every member of the gang, and he does it with the single-minded efficiency of a bereaved father.

Meanwhile, a police unit led by Inspector Ettore Moretti (played by needlessly handsome Al Cliver) also hunts down that gang for abducting a woman with a wealthy husband.

Inevitably, all the sides come together in a final eruption of violence... and it ain't good for any side.

Shabby cinematography is compensated by quick flowing dialogue, and fairly credible stunts.

Definitely worth watching. 7/10.

Tano Cimarosa plays grieving father of his baby daughter who was ran over by a car full of violent criminals.So he decides to avenge death of his child by gorily killing them one by one.Al Cliver plays violent Maurizio Merli-like inspector who tries to get rid off thugs from Messina.Pretty good and sleazy vigilante thriller with several nasty scenes of violence and rape/rape attempt plus a healthy dose of full-frontal nudity.The film looks extremely cheap and is so trashy and exploitative that it truly has to be seen to be believed.I must say that I enjoyed this one more than Cimarosa's giallo "Reflections In Black".Good to see Paola Quattrini as the rich kidnap victim.So if you are in the mood for Italian "Death Wish" give this exploitation classic a look.Favourite kill scene:Tano stabs to death gang's leader during the shower.8 death hunts out of 10.
