Yet again a very funny performance from the extremely energetic (and sweaty!) comedian Lee Evans. What you see is what you get when you watch this man live. He is always falling over and running around like a mad man but what is most important is he is very funny. He is a observation comic who talks about everyday things and makes even the most dull topic sound funny although he is not quite in the same league as Billy Connolly or Eddie Izzard yet. There are some classic moments such as when he talks about the Supermarket toilet roll tester and when he wheels a piano on stage that seemingly is out of control and heads for the front row of the audiance. It's a shame he had to do the scetch about the boss who gives himself a pay rise because that was not funny at all. All in all very funny. 8 out of 10.
Lee Evans. Remember him? He retired some years back but his name is still known for being a good stand-up comedian in his day. Perhaps he got out while the going was good. Or that attitudes towards comedy were changing.
He just wasn't very funny for me, Sorry to say but his appeal is rather lost on me. He's like a modern Norman Wisdom in many ways in terms of his manic physicality, which is a good thing.
He also lacks any real charm, has material that was being used by Noah on the ark, and I'm afraid here looks like he thinks he's God's gift to comedy.
He also falls in to that very easy trap of thinking that by throwing the 'F' word into his act every two seconds it will somehow elevate his material and make it funnier.
It does not.

I can't claim to be familiar with the stand-up comedy of Lee Evans, so I bought two DVDs as I happened to come across them at a secondhand DVD store. And having sat through "Lee Evans Live: The Different Planet Tour" I can't claim to be impressed.
Sure, Lee Evans was full of energy and was all over the stage all the time, but the jokes were not really appealing to my sense of humor, and it seemed like a random array of joke delivery. There wasn't, to me at least, a red line of coherence throughout this show.
With "Lee Evans Live: The Different Planet Tour" not impressing me, I do so hope that the other DVD I bought ("Lee Evans: Live in Scotland") is better and funnier than this show turned out to be.
I wasn't particularly entertained by this stand-up show, but thumbs up for the level of energy that Lee Evans could muster throughout the whole show.
